Duncan Jones' Warcraft - Part 1

You have to remember that they don't want to show the Orcs as evil monsters anymore, hence why he has human eyes and everything.

Sorry, what? Not sure who you mean by "they" (Blizzard?), or why that decision would be made. Admittedly haven't played a WC game since WC3 (never bothered with WoW), so I guess I've missed something....

The whole point of Warcraft is being able to relate to both sides. Similar to how Dawn of the Planet of the Apes had both heroes and villains on each side. Nobody is gonna relate to the Orcs if you make them murderous lunatics who only want to invade and destroy. But if you make them more "human" and show their suffering as well, there will be a more interesting conflict in the movie.

It has been a core essence of Warcraft ever since it began, and I'm happy they didn't throw that under the bus to make a watered down B-fantasy movie where the humans are the good guys and the orcs are the bad guys.

I don't know what story they will do next or how they're going to continue it, but I really want to see Draenei. Since Garona is half-orc, half-draenei (for some reason, this mix makes children look like green-skinned humans with fangs), there's a chance we will see them more or less soon.

Right, I've definitely gotten that point from the games (especially since you can play as either side, and both campaigns more than show why each side has a reason to fight), but I still think relate-able Orcs could have been pulled off even if they looked less human-like. I just find the movie's orc design annoying, especially since it makes them look more B-movie-ish and like the production budget ran out.... :p

I do hope there's a clear visual distinction between the orcs and humans in the movie at least (both close-up and from afar).

Loved the music to the teaser trailer, wonder if it's original since I don't think I've heard it before. Can't wait to see this movie even though I don't play the game but I'm a Vikings viewer.

Orcs seems fairly orcish to me, no problem there...

It's nice trailer track, but there's no distinctive theme or melody, so I hope it's just that, licensed, or maybe custom made, trailer track.

I love Duncan, such a cool guy :woot:

In the leaked Comic-Con footage, there were slaves held prisoner by the orcs to power the portal. You didn't see them but they had blue arms, so the assumption is that they were draenei. Whether we'll actually see them fully is doubtful. As for continuing the story, we've still got Warcraft 2 and 3 after this. Draenei didn't come in until the first WoW expansion.

I don't get the complaints that the orcs look too human. They might not be green-skinned and red-eyed, but they still look like orcs to me. They look a lot less human than the LOTR orcs (who also looked awesome).

Then I hope WC movie franchise will have 10 more movies so we can reach WOW events.

I thought draenei were introduced in WCIII:The Frozen Throne??? (when dealing with some of the Illidan quests.... though admit I could be misremembering)

Yeah Blizzard has since Warcraft 3 made Orcs more like Klingons, honorable space aliens and not bloodthirsty vile demons.

Yea, I really hope this film won't flop and so we'll get sequels with all the WCIII and WOW races... and StarCraft film and Diablo film and now even OverWatch film, you know. :woot:

Yes, yes... a Diablo film needs to happen.

I had a hard time getting into Diablo... we had the 2nd game (+ expansion), but I always ended up giving up on it (maybe one of these days....) *lol*

Yeah, my opinion is that the skill is in showing that brutish-looking orcs are more human than they appear, not making them look like/resemble humans more so we make an association just based on physical appearance. The point is (to me) that we go beyond that and realise that the ones who don't look like us and look like aggressive monsters are actually like us.

I was never able to get into the first one, but Diablo II is probably my favorite video game of all time. I loved the mythology they created, the graphics, the gameplay, all of it. The expansion was awesome too. Diablo III looked absolutely stunning, though it was a bit too easy and the story was lacking. Still really enjoyed it though.

You're not ,they were introduced in the Frozen Throne. However those, were mutated draneis that have little resemblance to the original ones (which later becomes a PC race).

On the left side WOW Draenei, on the right Frozen Throne Draenei.
latest

In how long does it come out?
