How many of you guys listen to the commentary in the Last Stand DVD? If so, which commentary did you enjoy the best?

My favorite was the commentary with Brett Ratner and both the screenwriters. I thought it was pretty funny when he talked about where Gambit could have been in the film. Overall the whole commentary was very entertaining to listen to.

I thought it was pretty cool that at the very last scene they they said that the person in the bed was Xaviers identical Twin (P. Xavier).

I haven't listened to the entire commentary yet.

They said that they were going to introduce him in the jail break scene with Juggernaut, and Multiple Man.

Yea, from what I have been told, that was the original script where the Alcatraz scene was actually in the beginning of the movie.

interesting, i wonder why they changed it..

Yep...Alcatraz was the original prison hold of mutants.

IMO that would've been better. :csad:

It was changed when Ratner and co. decided to make Alcatraz the setting for the final battle...in the original script, the battle would've taken place in Washington D.C. in front of the white house?

Again...that would've been better.

And more expensive hence why Fox told Ratner to change it. Greedy Bastards :cmad:

:wow::wow::wow:

wow, that would of been awesome if they had of kept that in

yea, I agree it would have made it better if they had that as the storyline.

I liked how Ratner asked if they liked how you only see Angel flying to save his dad in the final battle, and they said not really. They sounded pissed about it.

I would have like to see Angel do more then just flying in to save his dad

Actually, Ratner went to Fox about changing the Golden Gate Bridge sequence to the final act, not the other way around.

And Ratner's way was actually more expensive from what I've heard...

So um...

I dunno that it neccesarily would have been better. It probably would have amounted to about the same thing.

I don't know...I mean personally, for me to see the X-men battle the Brotherhood in Washington D.C. in front of the White House, would've been a dream come true. Much more epic than the showdown at Alcatraz Island (mind you i'm from Bay Area :cwink:). I mean can't you just imagine the possibilites of Phoenix goin' loco in Washington?!

I just think it would've been much better...at least visually. More eye candy.

Before this movie came out, they made it feel like we were actually gonna have a real X-Men movie where all of the members of the team were gonna have alot of screen time in action and in dialogue.

I thought Colossus,Angel, and Iceman were gonna be huge in this.

On that youtube link I see there's an easter egg with Beast reciting Shakespeare. Was that an actual deleted scene or was that meant as a blooper (a la Spidey appearing out of nowhere in X-men or Jean grey arriving at the Oval office and telling the pres how she was sorry she was late)?

Coz if that was meant to be in the movie, that would have definitely elicited a response from the audience. One of laughter. :whatever: :o It's a case of the writers trying a bit too hard to show that they're fans and supposedly show that Beast is very learned but failing horribly. Thank god for deleted scenes.

I think it was a legit scene. :o

Hell...even Bobby gives the "WTF is he talkin' about?!" head turn towards Kitty & Colossus before the camera cuts VERY abruptly!

I couldn't keep a straight face watching that scene. LOL

Another thing that would be cool is that during the 3rd act, near the Juggernaut and Kitty scenes Brett Ranter and the screen writers were commenting on the youtube Juggernaut cartoon. And they want to get those guys who did that and do a whole commentary on the last stand like that.

I think that would be hilarious

There's no doubt that one of the original versions of the script (and the included elements) would have been more cooler thematically than what we got. If memory serves me correctly, Mystique winds up at Alcatraz, and they experiment the cure on her (I believe she was captured when gathering information about the cure). She gets the cure, forcefully. In the first act, Magneto and Pyro use the Golden Gate Bridge to reach Alcatraz, where they free all of the mutant prisoners (as mentioned).

Now, I'm not sure if at this point Magneto destroyed the facility or if Worthington Labs was actually located in Washington, D.C. But I agree that basically it would have been cooler to see the X-Men and Brotherhood duke it out in front of the White House and the Dark Phoenix obliterating everything atop the steps of the Capitol. Much more climatic and dramatic in my opinion.

And actually, that influenced my rewrite of X-Men 3, which includes those original segments. I just recently posted it on this board, if anyone wants to read it and take a gander at the possibilities of what could've happened.
