Has anyone ever bought certain movies on DVD just to say that you have them? You look at them maybe once and don't watch them again.

Why would you do that?

Oh don't act like you haven't done it!

I make it a point to buy every single superhero flick out, even if I despise it just to say I have all of them :)

I bought the 2 Disc SE of Treasure of the Sierra Madre like 6 months ago and still haven't watched it. I have a couple of unwatched DVDs.

You must think I'm crazy ;)

(No, I burned it instead)

Blasphemy:o

Spider-man 2.
I got the DVD so I could see what happened at the end, when I had to use the bathroom. Haven't watched it since, and I din't miss much really.

I own Key Largo just because it has Bogart and Bacall. I've only watched it once or twice.

No but I have bought DVD's for movies I don't really like because I thought the Special Features seemed interesting.

I recently bought the Bogie/Bacall boxset because it has one of my favs in it (Bogie) plus some damn fine movies on its own. Plus with the price I paid, it was like > $7/ a movie.

Treasure of the Sierra Madre is an EXCELLENT movie! I got that too.

I never do that, but sometimes I rent a DVD of a movie I hate just to watch it with the audio commentary and laugh my ass off at the director trying to make his piece of **** look good...

Oops, I forgot to address the topic. NO, I do NOT buy a DVD for any other reason than because I LIKE the movie or its a blind buy and I'm sure I will like it (works pretty well).

DVDs arent fashion statements. I know there are some people though that buy every single DVD just to have bragging rights on hometheaterforum.com and stuff. They have movies they'll never watch nor want to watch, but it lets them have "8,489,940 movies in my DVD collection and counting : ) " in their sig lines.

that Oscar has a last name right? Meyer?

I wouldn't waste my money to buy a DVD that I'm only going to watch maybe one, when I could just rent it on Netflix for less than half the cost. Gawd!

ummm I've said movies that I liked but really I dont like any of those movies like Oldboy, Taxi Driver, etc....

I don't buy them to "say" I own them, but a few I've bought "just to own them" based more on their significance than how often I'll watch them. Like "Caligula" and "Zombie".
I don't know why people talked up "Zombie", it's boring as f*** except for the eye scene. So I basically bought it just to own the eye scene.

And I just bought "Caligula" because at one time it was the most controversial film.
I also was tickled by how ass***ish they were to trick great actors like
Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole, John Gielgud and Helen Mirren into appearing in the film and then after the fact they edited in all this hardcore porn. Lol, so I bought it as a gesture of support.

But I would've bought it for it's status whether I ever watch it again or not.

I never do that and will never do that.

P.S. This thread doesn't make sense.
