I don't think The Rock really fits The Noun Verb style world of Ludlum's books. But if it gets him working with quality directors and writers instead of Brad Peyton and Jon M Chu, then by all means.

Okay, but True Lies was meant to be a bit of a joke. It's of course a very entertaining action movie, but it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I haven't read this Ludlum book, but his material is intended to be taken seriously. The reason Jason Bourne works well as a spy is because he looks like someone who can blend in with the crowd as needed.

I would say his natural charisma makes up for a lot of it. Plus he's smart in the roles he picks because it plays to his strengths. He's not a Sean Penn trying to do an action movie.

He is smart. But, he's not a great actor. Seems like a great guy but I'm tired of him. Now he's about to ruin Jumanji...

Doc Savage will likely get made. There's no way a studio will shut down a movie that has Shane Black directing the Rock.

G.I. Joe 3 and Journey 3 are probably off the table due to their lack of developments for a while. And I know San Andreas 2 was announced only a few months ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't make the cut either, especially since another project between the Rock and Brad Peyton, Rampage, seems to have more momentum. Plus, I think those involved will realize audiences probably won't want a sequel to that movie.

That is exactly what i was thinking. But this is Hollywood, and I thought the same thing of John McLane in Die Hard years back.
