well at least your honest. Though I think the bragging rights and stuff doesn't really add much around these parts.

That being said there were a good amount of people that definitely should be eating crow. The incessant negativity, putting downs, and mines over yours, I suppose comes with it's well timed 'I told you so'.

I had a friend that thought I had no respect for 200mill when I suggested starwars had a shot. He cited that he never hears his friends talk about it and that no one cared. Mind you his only experience being the prequels. He was there marathoning like the rest come release. Now I sense he attributes much of this to disney marketing.
It is why I am keeping it to this thread and a bit of the Misc Films thread. You are a Transformers fan, right Marvin? Have you ever gone, "scoreboard" just once?

And yeah, your story with your friend sounds similar to what I and others have experienced here.

Oh I know. This isn't news to me. He is so obvious, it is painful.

Devin???

Far a who??? Faraway??? Farawhere???? achi?? aci??? achoo???? Did someone write something that interests me? No? Oh, great..... snork, snork..... :sleepy::sleepy::sleepy:

I don't think the SW hype will calm down anytime soon. When TFA hype starts to go lower, time will come for the Rogue One teaser to be released. And then it starts all over again....

Oh man, talk about hype! I cannot wait for Rogue One! Shoulda been a teaser for it in this one!

Sooo....... thanks to 2015 the months of June and December are absolutely 'untouchable' in terms of Opening Weekend records for years, dare i say decades.

When I go to the "score board" on any of these films it's usually about making a point(if no one likes it(in such and such posters opinion) then why did this many people pay and pay again etc). That being said, I'm not actually a transformers fan I just don't hate on things the way others tend to. You just see me defend various films against incessantry all over. Rather I don't have to be a fan to defend somethings right to exist or have fans. Or against arguments I find loaded and or fickle is all.
Though I'm sure TF fans love going to the 'score board' when their film makes a billion or what not, as much good as it serves them in the face of 'so what'.

And yea, I suppose celebrating said film in it's own parts makes sense.

Urrrpppp....cheers....

It's so cool going to Box Office Mojo and looking at all the 1's the movie already has in its first week. This was my real Christmas present this year. Thanks to Disney and J.J.

This is sort of interesting. The only reason TFA isn't listed is that it hasn't even been out a week.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/openingweeks.htm

At day 6, it is already up on JW's first week by almost 70M. When the numbers drop tomorrow, it will be up by something in the area of 100M. That's about the same difference between the soon to be #1 and #2 as the difference between the former #1 and #10. Think about that when considering just how much of a monster TFA is......

I wonder what the drop is going to be like today.

Maybe around 35M?? If it's "only" that, we'd be just shy of 400M in 7 days. In one of my posts a few days ago, I had the nerve to put that in black and white and, even though I thought it was possible, it looked so outlandish to me that I almost couldn't believe what I was writing. Then I put out the possibility of it hitting 550M by the end of this weekend. I mean, what movie AVERAGES 37.5M Monday-Thursday after its opening weekend? That just can't happen. Right?

This is just the crazy, off the charts $#!t that we all love to watch and follow. It's sort of like a car crash only without the morbidity. With a little more to go on, $550M by the end of the weekend is a real possibility. After 10 frelling days, 550M is a possibility. That is just so, so very wrong.....165M over Fri-Sun (with help from Thurs receipts) is monstrous. This movie is going to AVERAGE about that (55M per day) over 10 days.....THAT is frelling insane.

EDIT: Oh yeah. If anyone out there said "Oh yeah, TFA is gonna gross 550M in the first 10 days, you better be able to point to where you said it. I thought it was going to just kill it at the BO, but I never saw this coming.

Now I'm going to be putting something else out there that's going to sound absolutely insane....

TFA could be on Avatar's heels (US/Canada) by the end of next weekend. That's 17 days in release. Try and wrap your head around that one.....

Any Xmas eve numbers yet?

Any Xmas eve numbers yet?

BOTF are predicting 27.5-28.5, which is insane for Christmas Eve. That would make it the highest ever total on Christmas Eve, and incidentally, it also beats the highest total for Christmas Day as well.

Predictions ranging from 150-178m for the second weekend which is absolutely insane.

Thanks. So when does the crazy stop?! Haha. It's going to keep this juggernaut wrecking pace through to New year. Will certainly fall a fair bit after that but if it holds at all well (still little competition and I don't see repeat business falling off as much as it would for most other mega films) then we'll have to start looking at targets higher than merely a billion domestic dollars!

Ikr! That's probably a picture of JJ Abrams... or George Lucas's house. :p

I wonder what the drop is going to be like today.

I remember reading the THR article. In addition to lots of tickets being sold for Thursday night, Friday and Saturday -- people were buying tickets for Christmas Day shows.

Wouldn't be surprised if TFA gains $50M-$60M for today.

Official Xmas eve number:

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS took in an estimated $27.59M on Thursday and has grossed $391.05M in 7 days domestically. #TheForceAwakens*

Okay I was wondering if the film would stay above 25 million yesterday in the face of lazy ass last minute shoppers being busy and apparently it did. So good for it.

Anyway, Happy Holidays you all. I'm about to see Joy while my mom and niece and nephew see Star Wars. I think they will enjoy it.
