About the football game the NFL playoffs start next week.
Oh really? Don't forget the Revenant is finally going wide as well. The reviews are good, the trailers are attractive and Leo is a draw.

I did think that Hateful 8 would do a little better than it did but I guess the lack of a Pitt or Leo type actor left the film with good but not amazing numbers. It's all up to awards and word of mouth now.

Yeah 2 games sat and 2 games sunday. Oh did the revenant only come out in a few places so far? Yeah I heard it was getting good reviews. The hateful 8 I have seen a few previews but I have no idea what it is about lol.

Thought hateful 8 was decent. Maybe a bit too long. It's about a bounty hunter bringing in a bounty but they get caught in a blizzard and have to stay in a cabin for a couple of days with some other people that he suspects will try and rescue his bounty.

MMM that is interesting

That is interesting I am starting to think at worst causes that the movie makes 1 billion USA and 1.1 outside not counting china for 2.1 billion+ 300m in china for 2.4 billion. Best cause I am starting to think 1.2 billion USA and 1.3 outside not counting china so 2.3billion +500m in china for 2.8 final.

As I said one and a half year ago ,TFA needs china market to surpass Avator.
But obviously chinese government are more and more willing to protect local
film maker(especially those who have good relationship with government)and limit the spread of the western culture. It has limited the TFA media exposure and made it open on one of the coldest release date in a year。Since china has a more and more tension relationship western countries and western companies。TFA maybe in a very unfavorable situation

Oh that sounds to much like Djanjo and I hated that movie even though ever one loved it. It is in my top 5 worst movies I have ever seen list.

Avatar made 72% of it's money overseas. Unless TFA explodes in China I don't see it overtaking Avatar worldwide.

Their impact on Star Wars might not be that big since they are both R rated.

About the 40% drop what would be a good drop this week? How much do movies tend to drop around this time?

Yeah I get that just thought it would still maybe drop a little less.

I'm pretty good with numbers, but am no box office expert (in fact, my predictions suck more often than not), but if it had another 40% drop, I would say that is very good. That would bring it down to about 54M for the weekend (still a record for 4th weekend in release). The next weekend is a holiday and I'd expect to see something in the neighborhood of mid 40M? Maybe somewhere in the mid 50M range with Monday in there?

So I think it has a chance (but prolly not a good one) to cross 900M DOM by the end of the next weekend.

740M (Current)
32M (1/4-7 - courtesy of some old dude :cwink: )
54M (1/8-10)
22M (1/11-14)
44M (1/15-17)
10M (1/18 - MLK Holiday)

902M

I told you I was an optimist :woot: (But most people call me delusional)

It definitely needs some big numbers in China, but TFA "exploded" in the largest market in the world and will blow by Avatar by hundreds of millions of dollars. Also, it's hold seems to be very strong in the rest of the international market and if it can hang in there, it can put up some big numbers across the board.

You must have only seen like a couple of dozen movies in your life. :o

I thought it was kind of funny in a Quentinish way, but could definitely see why someone wouldn't like it. All of his movies are like that; at least all of the ones I can think of.....

Hey, dislike what you want to dislike. But yeah, if Django is one of the worst movies you have ever seen, I am not sure how many movies you have watched. :woot:

I don't like Titanic but I wouldn't call it one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

There's a difference between disliking a movie and saying it's the worst you've ever seen.

And if Django Unchained is the one of the worst movies you've ever seen, count yourself lucky.

I count myself cursed that I saw Crapformers:Age of Suckstinktion. I can honestly say I felt like vomiting while I was watching it, felt used after watching it, AND I think it was one of the, and likely THE, worst movie(s) I ever saw.

And, yes, I have seen movies by Ed Wood.

Batman and Robin is horrible, but I love it. One of my favorite bad movies. Makes me laugh like crazy.

Being on a CB messageboard, Catwoman, Elektra, Green Lantern, Batman and Robin, Wolverine Origins, Superman IV. Those are some of the worst movies I've ever seen.

All bad movies and I agree that you can distinguish between bad movies and movies that you disliked. Ed Wood's movie were bad, but I found some of them entertaining. You just don't find that quality of special effects everyday......

I've seen all the bad movies you mentioned and don't think any of them can hold a candle to Crapformers. I remember someone said they thought it was good. I found that surprising to say the least.

I think there were movies that were bad AND I disliked. The movies are listed were also panned by critics. Django wasn't. Titanic wasn't. They just aren't everyone's cup of tea which I see is the difference.

Per boxoffice.com's twitter, estimated Monday take is...$8.0 million. Domestic tally is $750.2 million.

So by the end of tomorrow, then.

Passed Avatar's 1st run totals.

Now we'll see how it compares to Avatar's run from here on out. Avatar got 29+M for this week.
