Anyone catch this tonight on HBO? I thought it was hilarious. Some reviews mention that it has similarities to Talledega Nights, which I guess I can see.

Yeah McBride is pretty funny in this. Here's the synopsis:

Relief Pitcher Kenny Powers was poised to rule the Big Leagues, but two things got in the way: his fading fastball and his insufferable personality. After a spectacular career flame-out, Kenny came home to Shelby County, NC and picked up a job as a substitute gym teacher (mostly so his brother Dustin would stop threatening to kick him out). He's spent every moment since then cashing in the last of his dying fame while plotting his inevitable comeback... one beer at a time.

'Eastbound & Down' is the latest project to come out of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's comedic goldmine Gary Sanchez Productions, which also launched FunnyOrDie.com. Starring Danny McBride ('Pineapple Express'), Katy Mixon ('Four Christmases'), John Hawkes ('Deadwood') and a host of other talented comedians, 'Eastbound & Down' was created by McBride along with two friends from film school: Jody Hill and Ben Best. The hilarious new series was shot on location in North Carolina and also includes a few guest appearances by Ferrell as a local car dealer with marvelous hair.

It was okay, after waiting what feels like 2 years to watch this, it wasn't that funny.

Seinfeld, Arrested Development and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia have some pretty horrible people, you still like the characters, they're still very funny. There is nothing to like about Kenny Powers and he's not that funny. Maybe because it was the pilot setting things up and it gets better in the next few episodes but I have to agree with the reviews that said Powers isn't funny and the supporting cast besides his sister in law aren't funny. Powers isn't like the characters Ferrell has played in his sports comedies who you want to see redeem themselves. Powers would've better as a supporting character in a different show. I would like to see Ferrell's cameo as the used BMW salesman.

I think that will be the case....even so I still wanted him to turn it around, or at least get on track.

I've read reviews from people that have seen all six episodes, and they say it gets really good.

Just watched this ondemand last nite and loved it! Danny Mcbride is just sooo funny. I dunno why but I pretty much just love anything he does he is like the KING of *******s

Oh man... so happy this show is on demand or else I would have missed it. It's not the best show... but I can see it becoming a lot funnier in future episodes. I liked the first two enough to continue to watch. That jet-ski moment in the pilot was gold

Watching the third ep now ondemand and man Im loving this show. I really like how they are starting each ep with Kenny doing or saying something that is just totally ****ed up. I do see what your saying about him being almost too much of a ******** though. Like I just wanna see him actually have a soft side and some heart. To make this show a real hit they need stories where Danny Mcbride can really showcase how good of an actor he can be and not just be an ass to everyone all the time.

Hahaha that ******ed Michael Myers line was golden

good season finale. sucks he left april ...again.... and didnt really get back in the bigs ****ing sucks too. cant wait for season 2. hopefully its more than 6 episodes.

Wow. Watched the season finale of this and Flight of the Conchords on demand.... ****ing loved both of the ****ing shows. It was just plain hilarious on both fronts and this is such a ****ing good double feature of shows... that HBO has to keep it going.

This series has been pure gold so far. I am loving this second season and loved the way Kenny came into the game last night. That was classic. The only down side to this show is that each season has six episodes when I wish there were more.
