Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are fast-tracking The Changeling, with Clint Eastwood looking to direct and Angelina Jolie in talks to star, reports Variety.

Written by J. Michael Straczynski, the film will become a co-production of Imagine and Eastwood's Malpaso. Brian Grazer and Ron Howard will produce with Malpaso's Rob Lorenz.

Jolie would play a woman whose son is abducted but retrieved; she suspects, however, that the returned child is not her kid. The woman must then confront corruption in the LAPD. The story is based on true events in 1920s Los Angeles.

The plan is to start production later this year

Eastwood makes it an automatic winner for me but add in Angelina and this story and i am even more interested in this:up:

Sounds like a really great combination. Eastwood's directing, and St. Angelina's acting.

As a very big fan of both individuals, I am very pleased with this turn of events.

I was interested in this just because JMS wrote it.

Now I can no longer say that I've never seen a movie with Angelina Jolie in it.

Yeah i noticed he wrote a Murder She Wrote movie and some episodes for Jeremiah which was a fairly interesting show at first plus he's writing the adaption for World War Z which is a great project.

Definitely interested, but the whole "this kid isn't my kid" thing is throwing me off. Maybe I'm just not imagining it right. :o

And he was also a writer on The Twilight Zone from the 80s, created a little show called Babylon 5 which he wrote 91 episodes out of 110 (including a streak of 59 consecutive episodes) and was also executive producer, and he also created and wrote 2 damn good comics (Rising Stars and Midnight Nation)

I am guessing the kid is a baby and is stolen from her as a newborn.

Never read the comics but that is a hell of a run he had on Babylon 5

Man, if you're serious and she's been sainted, someone needs to give that church a copy of Gia fast. :woot:

But seriously, sounds like a pretty cool project. Can't wait to see more of it. :)

Source: The Hollywood Reporter
October 16, 2007

Jeffrey Donovan, Colm Feore and John Malkovich have joined Angelina Jolie in Changeling, a true life drama that Clint Eastwood is directing for Universal and Imagine, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows a woman (Jolie) whose son goes missing in 1920s Los Angeles. The police return the wrong child and the woman is thrown into an insane asylum for disagreeing with the LAPD. When it seems that her real son has been murdered by a child serial killer and the child returned admits to fraud, she takes her case to the city council and takes down the mayor, the police chief and several corrupt officers, concurrently sparking changes in the insanity legislation.

Donovan will play a police captain, Feore the chief of police and Malkovich a reverend.

Also joining the cast are Jason Butler Harner (John Adams), who portrays a mechanic accused of murdering the woman's son, as well as Amy Ryan and Michael Kelly.

same here

well, not sure about that Hunter, unless half this story is set a few years before the rest of the tale. according to the cast list of The Changeling, the son is played by a Devon Gearhart, who's 12.

I'm really confused by all this, I have faith in Clint that's for sure. This story, even though it's based on a true life drama, I still can't get my head around it.
Jolie looks unhealthy as hell in that picture, drink some water have a burger, geez. Emaciated much?

I saw the tittle and for some reason thought this was going to be about Werewolves. I got all excited thinking Clint Eastwood was going to make a Werewolf movie. :( I imagine this should be a really great movie, I love the writer behind it, not counting some of his Spidey stuff, and Clint hasn't made a movie I haven't liked.

Angelina Jolie starrer in competition
Source: Variety

The full line-up for the Cannes Film Festival is set to be announced later today, but Variety has already revealed that Changeling will appear in competition at the fest.

Changeling is the latest directorial effort from Clint Eastwood, telling of a woman (Angelina Jolie) who reports her child missing. When the boy is returned to her, the mother insists that he is not her real son.

We'll bring you the full roster of films later today.

Can't wait for the reviews to pour in after Cannes. Or during, really. Should be a really interesting film.
