Yap... all that goddamn fasting is finally over, and today's the holiday.

Well, at least for me and my community it is. For some reason it varies :whatever:

I know Muslim activities don't really interest the SHH forums seeing the ramadan kareem thread, but I still think this thread was worth making just so y'all are aware!

:word:

Happy eid. I love some of the food cooked that you guys do on this day.

Nice  try to hit up some of your friends celebrating then

call me whitewashed but I can't stand most of that food

I might believe in Christian principles but I have a healthy curiosity for other religions as well.

Ohhh, it's that time again. That'd explain why it looked so packed at the mosque around the corner.

Happy Eid Mubarak, guys. How long do you have to fast before the holiday?

several islamic priniciples overlap with christian's since they are both abrahamic faiths
29-30 days
Depends on the moon

really? i was told it always has to be 30 and if you ended up doing 29 then you need to do one more

Really, a lunar year is 355 days instead of an exact 360 is because some months happen to be 29 days, of course which month changes from one year to another
This year Ramadan was 29 days

Nope, I'm in Bahrain, part of the GCCC, Arabian Gulf region

Yes, it was a Sunday. Second Friday was Friday the 13th :D

Hmmm...well a primer of Ramadan and Eid Mubarek would make me happy. I love learning about new things like this.

ohhhh man okay well I'm in new york

I hope you had a great eid
I had one
Hope you had a great one as well

In the Eid thread I will try to stick to explaining Eid
Mubarak is the Arabic word for blessed

Eid AlFitr (one of two Eids) is the Eid directly after Ramadan, Fitr is one word for mushroom :oldrazz: (serious though, not a joke), it also means the time to celebrate the end of Ramadan, end of obligatory fasting season

I usually say ramadan kareem but admittedly i don't know wat mubarek means either

Soooooo, this year's eid AlAdha is during 9/11.
Some people will get the wrong idea when Muslims in America celebrate, it will be awkward and leave hot water between people.
Spread the word, mainly to clear confusion.

I thought Godzilla2000 was unbanned for a second.

She was banned? I was not here for that, but I can imagined how it went down.
