In a few years, expect newspaper and magazine articles to start saying how tired the genre has become, and headlines like, "We Don't Need Another Hero".

That doesn't matter.

They're the same people which took decades before they started treating super-hero comic franchises seriously without using that awful BAM! POW! WHAM! Adam West Batman garbage in their headlines.

Yeah, eventually, some time down the line, the comic book movie will go out of fashion. But that doesn't seem like it'll happen any time soon. There's a real hunger in the market for this particular sub-genre, and it's grown into something more than just a fad. It's practically an era.

I think, in future decades, one of the things the 2000s will be looked back on as is as the decade of the superhero movie. When CGI technology finally reached a level where anything a comic artist could think up could be made possible on the big screen. And when, in response to events in the real world, audiences - young and old - wanted superheroes to save the day. And just when writers and directors started taking the source material seriously, and began realising they could be the basis for some damn good films.

For now, at least, it would appear the comic book movie is here to stay.
