Elon Musk says we're all just characters in a more advanced race's video game

I'm the first goomba you encounter in Super Mario Brothers.

I think he's been watching too many Greek mythology stories.

I don't remember Greek Mythology talking about video games. :o

If that was true, we would all have the blue spiny shells to take out the leaders.

No, we are not.

You ... are ... a ... toy! You're aren't the real Isildurs Heir! You're, you're an action figure! You are a child's plaything!

Whoever is playing my character must be thoroughly disappointed with my life choices.

That explains why you run around the street kicking boxes in search of treasure chests and enhanced weapons.

The simulation argument is just another take on the existence of God theory, just like the theory of karma is just another take on the divine punishment/reward system.

The simulation argument is just another argument for the existence of a creator, because it's not sufficient to just say we are living inside a simulation, a better question is, who created that simulation; which bring us full circle to the idea of a creator, call it God or the Cookie Monster, that's up to you.

I've been desperately looking for the save point for about 2 decades so I can go back and do the first part better. No luck as of yet but I'm sure soon I'll find it. :)

But....if he is playing with your character...doesn't it mean that he is the one making you life choices?!?
And doesn't it makes the player a sadist?

unless the player doesn't know he is playing a game and/or he doesn't know the character is sentient

Unfortunately, save points are only located inside Subway franchises, and you have to eat something there first. Not worth it at all. :(

If this is all a video game, why hasn't anyone come back from beyond the beyond? :o

Somebody needs to keep this guy away from LSD & shrooms.

Well, at least this explains why gay guys seem to have extra knowledge about things like fashion, cuisine and musical theatre. We get extra experience points because we're grindrs. :o

Have you seen the Rick and Morty episode where they play the VR game about living a human's life? Hilarious and vaguely associated with this train of thought. I've always imagined the simulation hypothesis as either a SIMS or Civilization type of simulation where the player isn't actually controlling each individual life but more of the broad strokes kind of thing.

Count me in, but i want a restart button.

F*** that, I ain't doing this life BS again. I'd rather be floating around the multi-dimensional ether.

No wonder they stay in business after they got rid of the 5 dollar footlong.

Those aliens should write me a better story then. But of course what can you expect from aliens.

No, i haven't.
I never watched that show.
I know it's on Netflix, but i don't have Netflix at the moment.

But that would bring us to another question.
Is it a single player or MP?
In other words, is "god" playing alone, controlling everything, or are there several players.
If there are several, it kills your RTS hypothesis....unless each player control a different planet.

Since the restart would mean everything again, with no prior knowledge of what happens, i would like to take a new crack at it, since i failed at it since day one.
I would like to restart it all, but now by my own rules.[/QUOTE]
