From time to time i catch myself thinking about it, wouldn´t it be cool to make Elseworld movies?
To make a stand alone or trilogy or whatever of Batman in the Dark Ages (for example) or Superman in the future or whatever?
This way, we wouldn´t have to bother of movies being untrue to the mythos, like Catwoman or the Jack Black´s GG rumour, and you could even end with very interesting twists on the mythos, because directors could do their thing.
And this could even go to Marvel, not DC alone.

Superhero movies already are Elseworlds, it's just most fans aren't open minded enough to accept them as such.

Personally, I can. Batman Returns, the X-Men movies, the Blade movies, those are films that I don't really think capture the characters they're supposed to be about very well, but I still like/love and enjoy them as movies. And in some cases (Blade) the movie version even surpasses the comic.

As Elseworlds. And honestly, if Catwoman was actually made well, I could've lived with those changes as well. I could live with changes done to GL if they're done well. But the changes they made to Catwoman, to GL, they weren't good changes. And for that reason, I don't accept; not simply because they're inaccurate.

As for your idea of more "out there" Elseworlds - Batman in the Dark Ages - I would say no to those. Some of those ideas are just a bit too...nonsensical to work right for films, I think. But I'd be perfectly fine with seeing some of the better, slightly more realistic, Elseworld stories adapted - The Dark Knight Returns, Superman: Red Son, Kingdom Come, etc.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm always up to see sdome of my favourite heroes in a different setting, but it'd have to be a TV Movie, because I'd have for something like "Red Son" to flop just because the audience didn't understand it, or thought they were just ruining Superman.

That's true. There is the matter of the general public's perception to worry about, as well...

Kingdom Come: CGI
But there would have to be a message at the very beginning about what Elseworlds is, and that this film is only a POSSIBLE future.

Elseworlds: The Animated Series

Damn, that would be good. Granted, they're already sorta doing that with the DTV movies...
