Actor Emile Hirsch, star of the films Speed Racer and Into the Wild, was charged with felony assault for allegedly choking a woman during last month's Sundance festival in Park City, Utah.

Dani Bernfeld, VP of Digital Entertainment for Paramount Pictures, told police that Hirsch dragged her across a table and put her in a chokehold after they had a verbal argument at a nightclub.

Hirsch, 29, was reportedly arrested on the morning of the incident.

More recently, Hirsch has appeared in the film Lone Survivor and played Clyde Barrow in a Bonnie and Clyde TV movie.

Hirsch could see years of prison time if he's found guilty.

Man...Ive been pulling for this guy since Alpha Dog. Hope it's not true.

He's got a lot of good performances... loved a lot of his movies. Wonder what the hell got into him? Inexcusable...what a shame.

Holy ****...if this is for real, he's done.

Yeah attacking a Hollywood exec puts you on the blacklist faster than attacking a normal person. I was waiting for his Belushi thing.

More than the fact that it's an executive I think it's the potential years of prison that will screw him over.

This is how the executive looks like:

(whisper) not that it matters but she's quite the looker..

So a 5 foot nothing midget put this girl in a headlock.

Good. Paramount have become the worst sausage factory out of the big studios.*

*Not condoning violence against women.

They were in a nightclub, maybe the whole thing was fueled by alcohol.

Alcohol only brings out what's already there. If you know you're an angry confrontational violent drunk then stop drinking.

He's quoted in these articles as saying he didn't even know her when he got into an argument. So he allegedly follows her to a table to continue as she tries to get away from him, comes up behind her, puts her in a choke-hold, drags her across a table, renders her unconscious and people have to pull him off her.

Charming.

He was angry that he can't land any actual roles.

So it was a "***** don't you walk away from me!" ordeal.

Probably.

But, as people said in here, I think he'll be done in Hollywood. Hitting a woman? Hollywood can ignore that. Maybe having an addiction? Hollywood can ignore that.

But putting your hands on a studio exec, especially if youre not a monumental box office draw star? I dont think they'll let that slide

Haven't there been stars who have come back from worse?

Look at Chris Brown. His career pretty much went down the toilet after he beat the hell out of Rihanna. Especially now, after the Ray Rice incident, violence against women is treated with extreme prejudice. It's not going to go well for him at all.

Chris Brown is still doing pretty well. He singles still chart high, he is featured on a good amount of songs, he still makes girls faint, and he still sells out arenas. Thats the "funny" thing that was pointed out about the Ray Rice thing. Some girls will put Chris Brown as their MCM but then criticize Ray Rice.

Sean Penn came back after that Madonna thing. That's the worse thing I think a celebrity has done and comeback from.

However, as I said, this was to a studio exec. I think they'll look at it differently.

ANd also it's not like he's a huge in demand actor. If he goes away from some years they'll probably just forget about him

Hollywood is like any other industry. You wouldn't imagine the stuff that went on back in the day between some very famous people. I ain't some fan of this guy but it's very possible he can come back from this, executive or not.

RDJ was just addiction. Yeah a bad addiction but everyone in Hollywood has an addiction. I wouldnt say that was worse than this

Downey had a serious drug problem. I'm still surprised he was able to bounce back from that.

Hirsch is worse off because of Hollywood politics. It's never a good idea to choke an executive. Especially a woman , which is despicable. He'll still show up in movies. I think he's a good actor. It's just a shame that he ruined his life and career for who knows how long.
