Emile Hirsch is John Belushi

He'll gain some weight for it obviously. All he needs is a double chin and he already has young John down.

Just crazy enough to work. Glad they didn't just go "Hmmm... chubby comedians. How about Jonah Hill?... Josh Gad, maybe?"

Josh Gad...yuck. Anyways, I think Hirsch is a solid actor, we don't see enough of him.

Anybody that can play Speed Racer completely straight already deserves more than some confidence.

WOW, I'm gonna need a trailer before I have an opinion on this, lol.

Same here. I think Hirsch is a pretty good actor, but I can't see him as Belushi at all. To be honest, I can't imagine him even pulling off Belushi's personality either.

He is, perhaps, the last person in the entire universe who I'd think would be cast as Belushi. If we were putting down serious money and you told me to guess who was going to be cast as Belushi - Emile Hirsch or Olivia Wilde - I'd put my life savings on Olivia. Which is $3.00 so it's not a huge loss.

It's not the weight I question, it's if Hirsch can pull off Belushi's comedic timing. I don't think I've ever seen Hirsch funny.

Haha, well it is called acting. Getting a comedian would've been too on the nose. You gotta find someone that balance the humor with the tragedy.

I've no doubt he can pull of the dramatic side to Belushi. I just hope he can pull off the comedic manic energy. It'll be hard to do.

Maybe this is blasphemy, but I would put full trust in someone like Jared Leto for this. Looks aren't as important as fully embodying someone and having the spirit of them on film, and Leto seems to be dedicated like that. Take Jim Carrey for instance. He looks NOTHING like Andy Kaufman, but he nailed that role and it's one of my favorite performances of all-time.

Like Hardy with Elton John?

It's strange how you assume Hirsch isn't a dedicated actor. He did drop several pounds for Into the wild. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

I don't know about Belushi but I always thought Hirsch should play charles manson. Any body seen Chiklis as Belushi in Wired?

I haven't seen it but I saw him talk about it on 'Dinner For Five' with Jon Favreau. He said it almost ended his career before it had even begun!

I heard Wired wasn't good but I like the idea of Hirsch playing Manson.

Whoever approved that casting clearly does not have physical resemblance very high on their list of concerns.

I can see a resemblance between Emile Hirsch and John Belushi, but I don't really know what Hirsch is like as an actor.

Belushi could be tricky to play though. You don't want to be a caricature, but he had this manic comedic energy and was a big but surprisingly limber guy, and if you can't capture the manic zaniness, you're not gonna work. But at the same time you need to be able to play his dark side and his demons.

I love this casting and I think Hirsch will be fantastic, this is another project that sounds like it could be amazing.

I'm interested in seeing what this will look like, good or bad. Hirsch looks roughly similar to Belushi in certain ways and he's pretty talented but I can't picture him in the role.

Which should make for a more impressive transformation.

He's an interesting choice. Good to see him get more work as he's a good actor. I trust John's widow Judith on this one when it comes to casting.
