Do any of you guys know where i can find some Ps2 emulators so i can play the games on my PC?

theres a very good chance your computer won't be able to handle it. not to mention that the roms are what like...3g each or something. but hey, they're out there.

Seriously? i didn't know i could get in trouble for looking for something like this.

Webhead, I seriously doubt the mods are going to get as worked up as our anti-piracy ***** over here do.

I'm never used an emulator for a PC so I'd suggest a google search.

Don't listen to Kritish Webhead, it's just that the Hype doesn't want be caught up in anything "ilegal". You can search Google but I would proceed with caution.

:yay:

alright. thanks starsky. Actually i came to the hype cuz i couldnt find an emulator i could understand how to work... :p hehehe...

Ok. discussion here is done.

I know it's not PS2 but you could always try some emulators for the old systems. They have some here.:yay:

Just buy a PS2. It's what? $100 now? Every game you will probably want will be under $20.

It's spelled illegal and it's not like the Feds are going to shut down our servers because someone was helpful for a change.

Technically, Emulators arn't illegal. ROM's are, but emulators themselves arn't.

Google it, the emulators easy to find. The correct files you need to run it though, arnt. I spent over a month looking for them, find a copy, and my computer couldnt even come close to handling the first gen games, and I have a nice computer.

You guys need to read the DMCA, it's NOT illegal to have an emulator though it IS illegal to have a ROM if the ROM can still be played on a system that's out currently.

"In addition to the safe harbors and exemptions the statute explicitly provides, 17 U.S.C. 1201(a)(1) requires that the Librarian of Congress issue exemptions from the prohibition against circumvention of access-control technology. Exemptions are granted when it is shown that access-control technology has had a substantial adverse effect on the ability of people to make noninfringing uses of copyrighted works.

The exemption rules are revised every three years. Exemption proposals are submitted by the public to the Registrar of Copyrights, and after a process of hearings and public comments, the final rule is recommended by the Registrar and issued by the Librarian. Exemptions expire after three years and must be resubmitted for the next rulemaking cycle. Consequently, the exemptions issued in the prior rulemakings, in 2000 and 2003, are no longer valid.

The current administratively-created exemptions, issued in November 2006, are:

Computer programs and video games distributed in formats that have become obsolete and that require the original media or hardware as a condition of access, when circumvention is accomplished for the purpose of preservation or archival reproduction of published digital works by a library or archive. A format shall be considered obsolete if the machine or system necessary to render perceptible a work stored in that format is no longer manufactured or is no longer reasonably available in the commercial marketplace. (A renewed exemption, first approved in 2003.)"

Yea, I copied from Wikipedia, so what? This time, they're actually correct. Since PS2 is EASY to find, it IS illegal to have a rom. Unlike SNES, if the game isn't on Wii's Virtual Console already.

Another nice effect of the DMCA is that you can hack your cellphone to work on another network.

Dude, who gives a f**k. And I will be laughing my ass off when you get sued.

Are you serious? You really think someone's going to put in all that effort for someone who just uses a torrent? You're delusional.

Delusional? Look who's talking. Talk about being an ass. You just don't like it because I like to obey the law.

And the grammar bashing has got to stop. It was fine when I made that thread but now it's just spamming.

What I just posted IS the law. The law itself states it's NOT illegal to have an emulator, simple as that.

Torrents themselves are not illegal though some things that are put into torrents are. Same for P2P programs.

You're not familiar with American laws, are you?

Where did I say emulators and torrents are ilegal? I'm not stupid. I was talking about the roms themselves.

I have to be familiar with American laws, I live there after all.

Would you say N64 roms are ilegal?

N64 ROMs are not illegal since the console needed to play them isn't available anymore. However, if the game in question is on the Wii's Virtual Console, then there's no excuse for you to go and buy a Wii, buy the N64 game on VC, THEN play it.

Also, it doesn't mean a damn thing that you live in the US. I know at least 5 people who don't know all 50 states of the country that actually live here.

By the way, it depends WHICH ROM you want. Not ALL ROMs are illegal.

I know, I was just wondering.

I'll admit, I can't name the states either:csad:

Sorry if I came off as a bit of a dick there.

Also, the DMCA's kind of a good and bad thing. Good that you can download old ROMs and hack your phone, DS, or PSP...bad because it frowns on console modification like modding a console or copying a game to a disc. In fact, Nintendo is working with the FBI to stop people from doing that on their console.

It's kind of odd that way.

No big deal man:yay:

Yeah, I don't get what's so wrong about modding a console. I mean, if you own the system, you should be able to do what you want with it.
