This should be the right board for this, right? The Supernaturalists is not about to be made in to live action format. But the thing is, I want it to be.
At first, it was only a single novel, a story that started and ended, and not a part of a long series, as Artemis Fowl.
I find Cosmo Hill a more "real" boy than Artemis. It was a more emotional story, more serious. And the things that happened were never played out for gags. I find that refreshing. With that said, I won't kick on Artemis and those books. They are entertaining adventures in their own rights. But sometimes they lack depth
Both these heroes deal with high tech stuff, it's similar in that way. But The Supernaturalists takes place in a kind of dystopic future and not present day. That could be what to focus on in a film.

Now that Eoin is actually going to write a second book about Cosmo and his gang, it opens possibilities for a live action adaption that wasn't there before. I don't know why, but series do attract more attention than single books. Just look at the fantasy/adventure/fairy tale flicks involving children during the last 10 years. Even the ones that didn't do so well.

The Supernaturnaturalists is an awesome book. Saddens methat he never followed up.

I'd like to see a film of The Wish List some day.

redhawk23: Colfer will follow up The Supernaturalists with a second book. It's official :)

There's still no word if they are going to make a film adaption. In fact, there was never one. It's just wishful thinking from me.

But Alex Proyas should direct, because he's good in making films with darker future settings. Doesn't matter with a required family-friendly tone to suit a certain audience, or this story being about kids, it will still be great.
One of the characters, Stefan Bashkir, is Russian. I want Dmitry Martynov (from Nightwatch and Daywatch) to play him.

I actually read the Supernaturalist for a children's literature course. I thought it was extremely... derivative. I thought the characters were really flat and the story predictable. But maybe I missed something because science fiction fans are always raving about how good it is.
