I've followed Smallville from the get-go and one thing i've gotten used to is being let-down when it comes to the so called climactic 'epic' showdowns Clarks has with his villains.

Once again, based on the spoilers, they promise us an 'Epic' fight in the finale between Clark and Zod.

I mean seriously for me, I feel that Smallville's definition of an "EPIC FIGHT" is pretty much one thats 15-20 seconds long and one (maybe two) punches, tops between the combatants.

From Bizarro to Doomsday to Brainiac to Lex (as Zod) they played these all up to be epic battles and w're incredibly underwhelming.

...for a more recent example, anyone remember the 'epic' showdown from Legion? When each hero fired off ONE shot at Icicle and that was it. It looked cool sure but an 'epic' fight...I think not.

I know i'm ranting but seriously, am I the only one getting tired of the oversell?

To be honest, the best fight i've seen thus far in 9 years of SV was the one he had against Titan...THAT was a fight.

Nothing so far topped the Titan fight. It definitely was the most enjoyable of all to watch. It was simply a classic, superpowered smackdown.

totally the clark/titan fight is pretty much the best clark vs ..... fight. ITs funny when the regular humans have better fights then clark. But yea they really shouldnt say epic fights in episode descriptions. But as for zod/clark this season finally hopefully they will actually have some powers used between the two and a few punchs and kicks and all that. I hope they learned from the lack of no fight with doomsday last season finale.

It shouldn't be too hard for them to have a good fight between Clark and Zod. Whoever choregraphed the recent fight between Chloe and Tess should handle it.

Just add in some booming sound effects and maybe a little slow-mo and you're golden.

Here's hoping they don't disappoint....

I think the problem a lot of them have had during these later seasons is too much emphasis on flashy special effects. The 'slo-mo' effects particular, for whatever reason, are a big part of these 'epic' fights that we've all complained about.

As shown in the Titan fight, and the Jonathan vs. Red K Clark in Season 2, they can accomplish a lot more if they simply focused on the fight. I'm not saying we don't want to see any effects during these fights...I just think they should tone it down a notch.

...now that I think about it, Seasons 1 & 2 had hands down some of the best fights of the entire series.

I'm not getting myself excited, I thought the Doomsday vs Clark fight was going to be 'epic' after seeing the trailer & in fact the whole 'fight' was essentially in the trailer..

They should have worded the description as "Zod & Clark have a showdown for control of the planet" as opposed to suggesting it will be epic, because if its anything less than epic now, it will be a let down. Hense I am not getting excited.

They should aim for a Bizzaro vs Clark fight, I'd probably say its safe to argue it has been the best set of fight scenes mainly for their duration & punches thrown. The first Zod fight, when Zod possessed Lex, looked immensely good. But it all was kinda over too quickly, they threw each other through the sky. Zod threw a few punches & immediatly it was over with Clark tricking him.

also budget has been a factor to in what they are able to do, then of course the story too. Hopefully we will actually get a decent fight between zod and clark and the good thing to remember greg beeman returned to direct this season finale.

Budget constraints i can understand but you really do not need much for an amazing fight I mean, give me the Titan fight plus a few Power usages and your good. I just hate one hit fights with Clark, ecspecially with someone who is the equal in strength. Oh and what about the indian fight, that wasa good one to.

They really need to stop making it all flashy. We don't need to always see Clark and his enemy running at each other in slowmotion and then knocking each other away. They don't even do that in the damn cartoons.

That Titan fight was ace, simply because it was just a mean brawl between superpowered beings. Sure, it had the occasional slow-mo effect, but it wasn't overused. We just need some nice visual display of superstrength, like knocking down walls. Or like when Lex was possessed by Zod and he kept punching Clark, until the boulder beneath him crumbled. Stuff like that.

All I'm asking for is a good choreographed fight with some property damage. Like this. You don't see a single slowmo effect, but the fight is still badass. Even if they wouldn't knock each other through the floor.

yea totally hopefully we will get a decent fight this time after the backlash from the lack of one with doomsday.
