Agatha Episode 1 & 2, "Seekest Thou the Road" & "Circle Sewn with Fate Unlock Thy Hidden Gate" (SPOILERS)

That was Mia Goth in Blade.
There's more than one. There's the daughter of Dracula and there's the demon goddess who uses her demon children to fight Ghost Rider and is a powerful magic user.

Ngl, I always thought they were the same character for some reason. I never realized they were separate.

I think the intent is she is
Blackheart. They made that reference on the list of names already, and Marvel isn't doing that for no reason. That's a pretty specific reference to make. She's Blackheart

These episodes were even better the second time around. I do wonder who Aubrey Plaza's character could be if there's a big reveal. Seems like there's a ton of options. To be honest, I don't care either way, she's fantastic in this, and even if she's just Rio, that's more than enough.

I agree with Spider-Fan that she's Blackheart.

I thought the speculation was that she was playing Lilith
Yeah, people have been all sorts of stuff. A version of the Emerald Warlock from the Witches' Road comic story, Morgan Le Fay, Lilith, and now the Blackheart hint.

They lingered on the Nicholas Scratch stuff too. I wonder what role he'll play. Is he involved with the Salem Seven? Is he something that Agatha may want back in the Road even more than getting her powers back? Is he actually turned into Señor Scratchy? If they start hinting that Joe Locke is him I will expect that to be a red herring.

And wonder what the Salem Seven's origin is here. Seems unlikely they'll be Agatha's grandkids. Past rumor was they are the children of witches Agatha killed (such as her former coven) which is very possible. We also got the "another child sacrifice" line this episode, so maybe the 7 are related to past child sacrifices instead?

And it seems that we will get different versions of the Ballad of the Witches' Road in each episode, so something to look forward to there.

Very much enjoyed the first episodes; I was pleasantly surprised. And agree with folks that Aubrey Plaza might be Blackheart. That seemed pretty obvious but, then again, everyone was sooo sure that Mephisto was popping up in WandaVision as that beekeeper guy but nothing materialized there.

It's also why I'm not 100% yet that Joe Locke is Wiccan although, again, that seems blindingly obvious to any fan of the source material. Marvel loves to zig when we think they're gonna zag.

I dont agree with that at all. Marvel has thrown a few curveballs, but they're mostly very predictable. Yeah, Mephisto not happening in Wandavision and Ralph Bohner were things that happened, but almost every other time Kang turned out to be Kang, the Spider-Men were in fact in NWH, etc. I think that's an unwarranted reputation based on a small number of widely believed theories being wrong.

I had no higher expectations here, mostly hoping Hahn would be as entertaining and fun as in Wandavision. And of course she was. These two episodes felt kinda like a setup, but I was entertained. The "Teen" character sadly went from interesting and mysterious to quickly rather annoying to me in episode two. Hopefully that'll change further on. Aubrey Plaza was great as expected though, excellent chemistry with Hahn and hopefully she'll return as soon as possibly.

I've no idea who Blackheart is, just read comments here that Plaza could be that character. I clearly remember though Plaza saying to Hahn something like: "I do have a heart, but it's black." If that means something?

And yes that song was great in it's quite simplicity but so damn catchy. Excellent singing from the actresses there, totally loved their harmonies. These two episodes weren't anything special, but entertaining enough for me to keep watching. The first episode was maybe a slight slow in pacing, but unintentionally damn it - now I could easily see Hahn in a True Detective-esque crime show. Of course inspired by Danish/Scandinavian crime shows. :D

Blackheart is the son of Mephisto. Popularized by the Marvel vs Capcom 2 game. Looks like a giant black demon with red eyes and the character was the villain of the 1st Ghost Rider movie. This would technically be a gender swap, but Blackheart is a demon so technically Blackheart could likely be whatever form they want lol

The first episode was a bit of a slog. If they combined both episodes, it would have been better. The other witches in episode 2 had like 3 minutes introduction scene, before they grouped up together. I thought their introduction would have been longer based from the pacing of the first ep.

Also I checked the runtime, without the opening/closing credits - both episodes are approximately 1hr / 10 minutes combined. Both episodes could have been easily a single 42min episode, or if this was a movie, the first 25 minutes.

Ah thanks for the info. Damn, that is still quite complicated. But interesting how this story will go on.

The 4D chess answer for Teen and Aubrey Plaza:

Teen is Billy and Aubrey is a genderbent Nicholas Scratch and Mrs.Hart is Blackheart all along. :o

I do fear for her life though. The actress is so charming.

She is, Debra Jo Rupp is always great. However we don't actually know if she's some random old lady yet. It's possible she actually is the earth witch they were meant to bring along. In the first ep of Wandavision their dinner with the Harts is marked with a 🖤in the calendar, obviously because it's shot in black and white. And she claims to have a green thumb, so it's possible she's revealed as a witch or someone with some power whether she knows it or not.

Agatha clearly think the black heart is a reference to Rio and ran out to get the first person she could pass off as a witch to the rest of them when she was just trying to steal some power but it might be that Sharon Davis was "supposed" to be there all along.

Or she's going to die horribly. :weeping:

No wonder Down the Witches' Road is so catchy. The Lopezes of Frozen and Buffy fame are the reason.

Yeah, I'm afraid they're going to suicide squad the hell out of this group.
Buffyverse the group where one turns evil, 2 die, and the core 3 (Agatha, Rio, Teen) survive, but end up losing an arm or eye is the norm there. :o

Finally watched the 2 episodes. TBH they are a bit boring.

What if Aubrey Plaza is playing the final form of
April Ludgate? :para:

Also Blackheart was the villain in the Nic Cage Ghost Rider movie right? Played by Wes Bentley.

Just watched the first two episodes. Really enjoyed it. Terrific cast, likeable characters, interesting storyline, catchy music, shot well enough, and great witchy, halloween-y vibes. Hope the rest of the series is good too and it doesn’t fizzle out.

Yeah. The other theory the internet is putting out there is genderbent Emerald Warlock.

I wasn’t sure if I was remembering right why Rio was attacking Agatha so I rewatched that scene today. At first I thought Rio was mad at Agatha because Agatha may have wronged her in the past but watching that scene now, my interpretation of it is so much more different. Rio is definitely a little upset because Agatha was using the Darkhold to hide from her for however long (which is a detail that my brain didn’t retain at first). But she’s still very playful about the whole thing because well… they’re both immortal (-ish for Agatha) and I don’t think she’s really trying to kill Agatha. She’s messing with her and hoping to get to be around her more after all this time.
