It's getting Oz in here, so take off all your clothes...

Sorry for the late thread, but honestly thought there'd be one.

So yeah, that was awesome. Felt like a genuine extension of the film, while still being it's own thing. You can really feel the Sopranos influence here, but not in the usual surface level in which that is invoked. The comedy really sells it. And boy is this show funny.

Everyone was excellent here, but especially Farrell and Milioti. He is so funny and her intensity really elevates everything. More so then the film, you can really feel the Jake LaMotta in Oz. I know it's hoping against hope that she survives the show, but a boy can dream....

It's also quite a pretty show. Fits well alongside the show. And for good reasons unlike the MCU ones. Funny considering the discourse beforehand.

As @Ninjablade mentioned, Oz has great taste in music.

LOL at Charles on Midnight Boys hating on this, yet loves Agatha and X’97.

Honestly outside of Aubrey cookin’ those first two episodes were meh. And, I love Hahn

Just to reiterate;

Sofia being part Lilith (Fraiser/Cheers), part Aunt Martha (Sleepaway Camp), and part Connie Rizzi (The Godfather) is ****ing genius.

Colin continues his excellence as Oz.

…easily the best interpretation of a mother for Oz.

Vic being the ‘negative Robin’ is dope.

They definitely love the comics and are perfectly expanding Reeves’ Gotham;

Jason Todd homage
The Hangman
Bristol Township
Robbinsville
BURGESS JEWERLY
Wayne Tower

…this is how you do a spinoff comic tv show.

I believe in Matt Reeves.

The tone is just perfectly established here. The music (I want "9 to 5" to be the actual opening titles theme lol), the visuals, the unexpected comedy. Could not ask for more.

Farrell is brilliant as ever, Oz is low-key hilarious (best version of the character ever, sorry Danny), and I actually love his rapport with Vic, which is kinda surprising. One little touch I absolutely adored was Oz first really taking notice of him by his stutter. It's like in that moment he saw his young self in Vic.

But Cristin Milioti is already stealing the show. I need Sofia to somehow survive this series, unlikely as that's looking at the moment. She's just too good.

Penguin is a character I've aways respected, do to his presence in the mythos and how much I love Burgess and Danny. But this is the first time I've legit loved the character. The perfect combination of captivating and chuckle inducing.

That was nothing short of goddamn awesome

I will say as well, the makeup department continues to absolutely excel. That foot bunion looked disgusting but 1:1 to what I've actually seen in my job.

Not just because The Old Man began at 10 pm, but I need to rewatch this when it replays this upcoming Sunday because it was that incredible.

Does Old Man s2 feel like those first two-three episodes or more like the boring last half of s1?

I'm already so invested, what a great start for this show. Everything is relatively low stakes so far, but by the end of the episode I can't help but think the Batman has to have some knowledge of what's going on. It's a minor gripe that he probably won't even be referenced as a potential issue but still noticeable.

Can't wait to rewatch the episode. No notes.

The cast was all spectacular--I love seeing minor characters like Johnny Viti & Milos Grapa woven into the narrative too. It's corny, but it gets me pointing at the screen like Leo lol

Really cool too to see the world outside of Gotham (and not just Wayne Manor & the Palisades)

This episode established Penguin as the most evil being in this universe:

No one actually thinks mixing flavours is better. It tastes awful. Vile man. :o
The flavors are separate for a reason!

The only time it works is when you're mixing only two flavors like Coke and A&W cream.

I was expecting it to be good, I honestly was not expecting it to be quite this good. Perfect pilot. Ferrell and Miloti are incredibly captivating to watch, and I love his new friend and his relationship with him already. Best hour of live action superhero TV in a long time.

Ha… sounds good. It’s not even the lack of action, it was mostly the flashback stuff that bored me to tears.
