Discuss episode 3 here.

The coven faces their first perilous trial on the Witches' Road.

First comment in here. Good sign. :o

As one who digs the spooky and witchy, I'm geninuely confused who this show is for. Because it does not feel like one that is going to get much of an audience outside of the usual Hahn fanbase. Which feels crazy for a Disney+ show. The only character Hahn has chemistry with is Plaza.

If they wanted to do WandaVision again, just do WandaVision again. Why try to act like that isn't what this is suppose to be, when 3 episodes in, that's all it's been?

The teen needs to die. He's the Marvel version of the Acolyte twins.

The show tries to fake momentum with attempts at zany moments and quick and witty banter. Except the zany moments aren't very zany nor is the banter quick or witty. The cast has no chemistry. None. And thus the show has no energy. The climax in the kitchen was like it was underwater, literally. I'm kind of blown away by how much it reminds me of the Acolyte in those moments.

And nothing worse then a hidden reveal, that 99% of your audience ain't going to even understand.

The first 3 episodes could've easily been done in one 45 min episode. Which is also probably why each episode is so short in the first place.

I'm still enjoying it. Heh to the fandom trolling with Mephisto. I doubt Teen is Agatha's son though they probably will have him and maybe Agatha thinking that. Agatha does seem protective over him in her way by not letting him drink poison. Her vision with the baby crying turning into the Darkhold clearly affected her but I wonder if there's more to the story than a straight up baby swap for power?

I'm enjoying the continuing TV theme and the Wizard of Oz motif. Finding ingredients for the antidote out of the "Huge Little Lies" vibe house out of Jen's subconcious/pintrest board. And Jen had to admit that her "all natural" Kale Kare stuff was a fraud, what a surprise for those types of brands. Loved Mrs Hart solving the wine riddle and "do not judge me" starting the trial because she desperately needed a drink with everything she was going through with then lead to......

RIP Sharon. Pretty brutal and very sad to have her final moments be reliving the Hex and having no idea what the hell was going on in general on the road. Debra Jo Rupp was fun I hoped she'd be in it for more but I'm not surprised. I guess there is always the possibility that she'll come back or maybe be even used in someone else's trial. This leaves the way open for Rio to join them somehow I suppose.

Good episode. Huge Tiny Lies :funny: Everything they're referencing here is right up my alley. I really like Agatha, Teen, and the rest of the crew, but I was missing Aubrey Plaza a bit. I think she's returning next week, based on promos and what we already know about episode 4. There certainly is an opening for her now :csad:

Funko spoiled me on who Aubrey and Joe were, but the Mephisto name drop really has me thinking they really want us to think Blackheart and not Death.

Such a great episode. Cast is great, characters are great, storylines are intriguing.

Debra Jo Rupp was my favorite part of this episode. I'm still not loving it, but I definitely enjoyed this episode more than the first two mostly because how entertaining the character interactions were.

I really hope the Sharon character isn't dead though.

I love the crazy plastic surgery faces the ladies got from the drink. Serving a little Longlegs, a little Oli London. Fun prosthetics work.

I mean, it’s literally a continuation/spin off of WandaVision. I never got the impression that it wasn’t trying to emulate that at least a bit.

First time I’ve seen this brought up, so this is news to me. I think he’s fine.

Literally all of the things that you have issue with (banter, wit, chemistry, energy, etc.) I’ve seen have landed with YouTube channels that have reacted to the show.

It’s fine if you don’t get or enjoy the show, but don’t project that onto everyone else as if that’s the overall reception and consensus. It’s not the greatest thing ever made, but it clearly has an audience that seems to be enjoying it.

I don't even know what this is suppose to mean.

You miss the point. If they wanted to make more WandaVision, make more WandaVision. Instead what you have here is a half-assed spinoff.

What made WandaVision work before it fell off a cliff, was it's purposeful structure. It allowed for a examination of Wanda's grieving and abuse of Vision, in a familiar, ironic package. You know, until it drove off a cliff.

There is none of that here. It just has the trappings and gimmicks of WandaVision, without the structure or commitment, leading to pointless episodes that just feel like ripoffs of older, better shows.

Well I know two other people here who think he's awful. Not that it matters. I do think saying the co-lead is "fine" feels like a real problem and emphasizes the lack of chemistry of anyone on this show. Can't think of a lot of great shows where one of the co-leads is "fine".

I'm a fan of multiple actors on this show, but only Plaza has come away with any merit and she's been absent since episode 1.

And? Since when has YT reviewers of television been known for their taste? Most are lowest common dominator reviewers of genre stuff. The chuds who hate everything with a woman, POC, or member of the LGBTQIA+ review on YT too. Do you think their opinion holds great weight?

And I just want to emphasize the irony of this part of your post. I'm clearly talking in the first person, it's clearly my opinion. I have not tried to argue the validity of my opinion by alluding to the opinion of unknown YT reviewers.

After 3 years we finally got someone in the MCU to utter the word "Mephisto"... too bad it's a show that is so far removed from what's going on in the main MCU storyline.

This episode was just okay, felt like a traditional tv filler which I don't mind.

I liked the brief little look at the witches’ history that we got. I’m hoping to see more of that. I’m also curious to see more about what the show is about because with Agatha being who she is, she has to betray all these people at some point so then what will the show be about?
Sad to see Sharon go and especially in such a cruel way. They all just forgot about her :sadcat:I’m wondering if there’s going to be a twist with her coming back. Seems too mean spirited to kill off the old lady who doesn’t even have magic.

I also think there’s going to be a twist that Agatha has never walked the road before because she’s acting too weird. That’s going to be the big betrayal near the end. And of course, the twist with the baby. Interesting misdirection there with that and the Teen. I haven’t seen the leaked spoilers and I’m avoiding them but I’m pretty sure that’s a misdirect :ebr: . Definitely looking forward to seeing more.

I’ve been asking that question since the day they announced this. I feel like after WandaVision was successful, they just started greenlighting everything left and right because they thought the Marvel brand would ensure big hits for Disney+, no matter the characters or the story.

They Greenlit Agatha in October 2021 which was after they had already commissioned Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Ms Marvel, Ironheart etc. Yes it was started in the heady days of "Wow WandaVision is an actual thing..." but it's also clear that the people behind the show love it and they aren't just trying to create a story because they're being paid.

If "everything at the time was greenlit then we'd have "Jimmy the FBI agent" right now as well.

I also thing Agatha probably never walked the road before because

What if the witches' road was... Agatha all along?

But in all seriousness, what if there's an MCU twist and Teen is Wiccan, yes, but MCU Wiccan happens to be Agatha's son, not Wanda's Billy

I just saw the Funko reveal, and I was like wuuuuuuuh. But
it's also possible Death and Blackheart are merged into 1 character. Wouldn't be first time Marvel has done that. Ivan Vanko is an amalgamation of Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man for example. I am curious to see how it plays out though

I'm a little confused on why would Death care about the Darkhold.

I am willing to see where it goes. I am also waiting to see where Mephisto fits into this MCU heirarchy
