The picture of the three stacked universes shows a slice through the branching timelines.

Here's the graph of branching timelines (yellow) superimposed on the picture of the stacked universes. The picture happens at the point marked by the blue line through the branching structure, when there are 3 universes:
    multiverse_001.jpg
The branches would keep dividing into more and more universes if you moved the blue line to the right of its current position.

Some branches (marked by purple circles) do not go as far to the right as the others. Those are probably parts of the DC multiverse, getting hit by the Crisis antimatter wave.

I wasnt a HUGE fan of this show. I HATE character resurrections, alternate universes and timelines etc. I DESPISE them. But I really loved how they handled it in this episode. Kang was great!

Maybe CW Immortus or Netflix Immortus, because that's whose outfit he was more or less wearing.

I’m amazed and intrigued some pretty extreme feelings a tv show based on fiction comics can invoke in people from reading this thread. Marvel must be doing something very, very right and very very special to trigger. It’s not even about 2 hottest potatoes known to mankind — religion and politic.

Really? I'm presuming you are joking to just try to praise the show. Mostly because you can't actually be serious. You are on a forum about a form of entertainment. There's no way you reached this point only to be shocked that fandoms exist and that people can form strong opinions over such entertainment. Entertainment is one of the "hottest potatoes known to mankind." Results involving sports teams can cause riots. Film itself wouldn't have become such a huge and expensive enterprise if people only had a passing interest in various films and franchises. The casual audience is valuable, but intense fan reactions fuel all sorts of industries and franchises.

This episode was a perfectly decent way for Loki to wrap up. Nothing particularly unique or special about how people are reacting to it though. The people that loved it are praising it and the people that were disappointed are venting over it. And you've got the in the middle reactions. All pretty standard. The percentages of each will vary depending on the show and that's about it.

    Eh...

We used terms u ironically like "Canon" and "mythology" long before anyone knew who Kevin Feige was.

Look at the Hype reaction to Nolan's first two Bat films which predate the MCU as we know it today. The, frankly, often unhinged online discussions about everything from Harry Potter to Star Wars and Star Trek whenever new material gets released.

This **** has ALWAYS been akin to religion/cultural mythology. Always.

For all our back and forth as fans being based in what to our minds are supposed "logical arguments" (About totally fictional characters and events mind you... We KNOW this is all from the minds of creators of media content... RIGHT?) the absolute truth is on multiple levels this is all irrational and based on fantasy, wish fulfilment etc.

Our discussions about this stuff always mirrored political and religious conversations/confrontations because at it's root it is connected to human "beliefs".

And that as a phenomenon pre-dates the year 2008 by quite a bit.

People have been itching to see the "Council Of Reeds" but the Kang version predates that. It would be interesting if they give us BOTH.

First Kang is established and Majors does multiple versions over a few years worth of media, both movies and shows but then we get the Reed version, dealing with a lot of the same issues, later. Perhaps even as a Trump card against the Kang collective?

In any case the scent of Secret Wars is overwhelming at this point. Some version of the Hickman SW with elements of the original 80's story thrown in for good measure.

Does anyone know why this series was so human centric and why the TVA was so 70s retro-tech and decor?

The fact that the person behind it all was human might explain the former a little (although he/the TVA is overseeing the timeline of the entire universe so one would expect other species to be included). The wackiest creature was a Loki alligator and that’s also earth-centric!

The latter just seems to be a stylistic choice but it’s a really odd style choice for a guy who came from the 24th century!

Does anyone else think the series suffered from this?

I think you are asking for too much from this.

One might ask why there's been no explanation as to why the Asgardians or the Kree, or most other species in this universe mirror human morphology so much?

You know the answer, the REAL answer, but it's silly to bring it up to a large degree.

I’m less bothered by that. In fact had they had a few blue faces that might have been enough for me. I just found it very odd that there were very few non-humans/Asgardians in this series that was set across space and time!

*cough* I'm pretty sure the dude who killed 99% of all existence, and continued to do so, is already as ruthless as they come. Immortus already *is* the evil one. You don't gain brownie points for "preventing a war", if you do so by killing all the participants and bystanders yourself first.

Agreed. More than anything, what Majors performance screamed to me was "Doctor Who". He was the Doctor, only evil and insane. Which is appropriate for a show that had a lot of Doctor Who vibes in general.

As an aside, regarding the stupid "were the Egyptians black or not" argument. . . okay, there are two problems with this whole thing. One is the assumption that any single answer would apply to a civilization that existed for several thousand years, as if nothing ever changed. *cough* But the more important mistake is the assumption that "Ancient Egypt" was a mono-ethnic society. During the most prominent and important parts of Egyptian history ( ie, the parts riffed and referenced by modern society )? Egypt was a huge civilization, containing both multiple ethnicities within its boundaries, and actively trading on a large scale with everyone else. Said trade and communication network stretched at least as far away as modern Afghanistan, which we know because that is where the vast majority of the tin that made the Bronze Age, well, bronze, came from. So, were Egyptians "white" or "black"? The answer is either "Yes", or "Which Egyptian?" As well as "They wouldn't recognize the distinction, they had their own set of ethnic categories and stereotypes and biases".

Not in the slightest. He committed murder on a scale that would make Thanos look insignificant. There's a *reason* he outright said "We are all villains here". Because he was by far the most evil person in that room. And we only have his word that his variants would be worse, as opposed to "different".

This Behind the scenes makes so clear that Tom Hiddleston really is invested in the whole MCU and knows all connections. I remember him in Kimmel and he could write all infinity stones to the paper while the rest of the Avengers cast had struggle with it.

The only thing I was missing was: No Love for Tara Strong as Miss Minutes? :argh::argh::argh:
I think it would be really interesting to hear their intentions of her need in this show.

Yeah I'd say it was the best one yet. Lots of interesting little nuggets like this
