Eragon, the movie about a boy who became a dragon-rider, came out a few years ago.

The books by Christopher Paolini are a huge success. The first movie in the Eragon trilogy had mediocre success at best. Is this the reason that the second book hasn't been made into a movie?

IMO, Eragon was a very entertaining movie and somewhat stayed true to the book

The first one sucked and cut out major parts of the book. It made a bit of a profit, but I wouldn't expect many people to return after how bad the first movie was.

They shouldn't make a sequel to the LOTR ripoff.

I presume by entertaining you mean absolutely horrid, and by somewhat you mean hardly at all. If so, then I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Eragon. Otherwise, you're bonkers.

And yes, mediocre returns for a movie (no matter how big) will throw plans for a sequel into turmoil. Superman Returns is another example.

Seriously, any sequel to Eragon would struggle a great deal. It was really that poorly recieved. If they did Eldest right, then perhaps. But I'm not holding my breath, especially since Fox holds the rights.

QFT. Fox has taken two fantasy series I love now (The Seeker is the other, based on The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper) and proceeded to rape them, piss on them, and then light them on fire and dance around their screaming bodies as they die slowly.

Honestly though, the frustrating thing is, Eragon is one of those fantasy books that SHOULDN'T have been hard to adapt. It had lots of action, it was very visual, the plot was entertaining....ahhhh...it just bugs the hell out of me.

Damn, for real? I mean...honestly?

:wow:

Eragon was a terrible flick.

Seconded...if you guys haven't read the AgonyBooth recap, do so...it's hilarious as always. In fact reading the recap while watching the movie would probably make it tolerable.

Oh as it turns out AB also recapped 'The Seeker' for that matter...great minds think alike, eh Infinity?

Yeah, uhhh no thanks. This is one of the worst big budgeted movies of all time. While most of my problems have to do with the complete cut and paste story from Star Wars, overall the movie just sucked in all areas besides ok special effects. This, Jumper and Ghost Rider are the only movies that I ever regretted spending money on. (Oh look, 2 out of 3 are Fox! Whatta surprise!)

BTW, I saw this movie at 10 PM on Dec 31st...crappiest way to start the new year.

I jactually ust went and read those reviews on the cite, that stuff is pretty funny. :woot: Of course, I different with the author in that I actually liked "The Dark is Rising" books. But still...it's very frustrating when Fox gets a hold of these things and utterly destroys them.

And now they have Narnia:csad:

Fox has Narnia now?

Oh lord, this train wreck will be fun to see.

Christopher Paolini is one of the worst writers in America. The only reason why his books were successful is because people are infatuated with the idea of children writing books (nevermind that his parents worked for a major publisher, and that's how the book was produced in the first place).

Sweet Moses Magnum! First a heartfelt plea for a Jumper sequel, now this???

Could I interest anyone in a The Day The Earth Stood Still prequel?

I don't really see what was so terrible about it. I wouldn't see it again but it was fun.

Reboot the whole trilogy and I would be up for it! I love the Eragon books!

True the books??? Are you serious?!?!? They took the first two books ripped out about a hundred or some odd pages from each added in crap, threw it in a bag full of ****, ran over it, lit it on fire and dropped it in a tank of cyanide. Too much?? That's how much I hated this "adaptation of Eragon" What a terrible film.
