Erasure vs Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode, no contest!

this is easy...which band used more guitar?
That's the better band.

(btw, the synth-bass line to "World In My Eyes" is sexy as f***.)

also, erasure sucks ass

Gahan is pretty flimsy that guy that sang in ereasure could take him, and Gore seems the kind that can kick but not punch, the Synth guy (who used to be in Depeche Mode anyway) would headbutt him into submission, while the rest of Depeche looked on in horror with the other 2 guys from U2 who aren't as memorable.

that's a very limited view of things

but yes, Depeche Mode has had a much more overwhelming and varied career

as for the "more guitars = better band" thing, I beg to differ, Morphine and Death From Above 1979 don't use guitars and those guys have some of the heaviest albums around

I'm a dumb teeneger and have no clue who they be
It's actually ironic that that's an option in the poll, cause right now about the hippest thing you can do as a teenager (at least here in Europe) is know and like bands like Depeche Mode. The 80ies are back with such a vengeance...

I was too young to really know Depeche Mode or Erasure from way back when (born in 1982), but I've always dug that kinda music. My brother, who's 7 years older than me kinda dragged me into that stuff. And I still like it now!

No. Jesus says, "No Guitars = Bad Music". Don't contradict Jesus.

I was watching the Depeche Mode video collection last night and realized that Martin Gore is a huge influence in my guitar playing, specially in the whole layering and melody line making

Useless is my favortite DM song

Jesus was an oboe player

Mark Sandman rocked so hard his heart couldn't take it. :(

gooooooooo Morphine!!!!!

WOW. . . this is a tough one. I like' em both. While Erasure is more "Danceable" I like Depeche Mode's darker tone depending on my mood. I can't vote.

THe only time erasure was really good was the one song clip they used in "Scrubs" as the most annoying song ever...that was funny :D

Depeche Mode.

To be quite honest I can't think of more than 1 Erasure tune off hand.

Depeche Mode

And I'm offended by your sweeping generalization of teenagers. :down

A glance at the poll seems to indicate that Depeche Mode is the Led Zeppelin/Beatles of 80's/90's moody synth-pop.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. After all this poll only compares 2 bands not the whole selection of artists that meet those criteria.

Who is the Led Zeppelin/Beatles of moody synth-pop then?
I'd say New Order, but DM has a great track record of covering different styles within their style

another good way to make that kind of evaulation would be to listen to their whole discography in chronological order

Depeche Mode. New Order kick both their ass for Blue Monday alone.
