Hey all.

If you were around the internet like I was leading up to TDK as it began production, you remember that when Eric Roberts was announced as having a role, many people complained and were upset.

I don't see many of those people anymore. Eric Robert's work as Salvatore Maroni was magnificent.

I remember Aaron Eckhart saying something like "Eric is just happy to be involved in a movie this big."

I think he at minimum filled the shoes of Carmine Falcone's presence in BB. And I think he did a bit more.

I aint knockin' you or anything but dont you think this thread is a little patronising?

you may as well call it "Way To Go, Little Buddy!"

Hmm. Maybe I should have put that "way to go" line in the post. *high five*

Not out to patronize, but if people also felt Roberts brought the goods, they may wish to comment yay or nay.

Yes he did, and for an actor who hadn't really been in anything noteworthy in a while, he took full advantage of this opportunity and gave it all he had. He should be very pleased. It's funny, after seeing this for the last time in theaters I was like "You know I've been wondering where Roberts, Anthony Michael Hall, and Michael Jai White had been, and then all of a sudden they're all in the second biggest film of all time" Awesome.

The question is... is Maroni dead?

I enjoyed him. I think he did a good job, although I think the chechan stole the show as far as the mobsters go.

I love the scene where Batman drops Maroni off the balcony, and Maroni tells Batman the score on how everyone is wise to his act now, they know he has rules, but Joker has none, that's why nobody will cross him.

I wish we would have gotten more out of Maroni, maybe a cool little speech like Falcone had, but oh well. He did good with what little he had.

Yup, he was awesome. I think Roberts is a very underrated, underappreciated actor. He has talent. He just needs to get some roles in bigger movies.

I liked Eric in the part. He did a good job. I especially liked the calm, amused look on his face during the Joker's meeting with the mob, while Michael Jai White was clearly getting more and more agitated. :D

I've never seen him before, and I missed Carmine, but I thought he did a good job considering, he made me forget he was an actor, and that's the whole point isn't it?

Roberts did fine. He wasn't worse than Wilkinson in BB.

I was wondering when this would get brought up. After South Park butchered (and consumed) him in season two, to random worrying on here when he was casted, I really had low expectations for him since I honestly hadn't seen any of his work other than the bad-mouthing of him. However, he fit the role just fine, so it worked out in the end.

I actually thought that Maroni seemed more of a crime boss then Falcone. I just didn't like FAlcone for some reason.

What makes you think I want to hear you talk.

I found him to be rather enjoyable to watch. He was very charismatic, the hot shot kind of mob guy. You can tell that Eric was happy just to be working on that film it was all over him.

Probably the biggest movie of Roberts carrer, without a doubt. Ive watched just about all his films, definitely the top of the B list actors, imo. He did okay for the role. He wasnt "all that". His accent was abit over done in afew scenes.

I'm not sure why anyone thought Eric Roberts as a slimy mobster was going to be a stretch (that's 2/3 of his filmography), but I thought he did fine, and wish he could have had a little bit more screentime.

I enjoy Eric Roberts in TDK the same as I enjoy another B movie legend getting a rare return to the spotlight, Rutger Hauer in BB. They're not "great" actors, but they're fun to watch, with the little tongue-in-cheek campy touches they throw in (we all know Hauer's a scenery-chewer, and does anyone notice when Rossi is about to shoot Dent in court, in the background, Roberts like pumps his fist in the air with this "YEEEAAAHHHHH!!!!" expression. lol. Having fun Eric?)

He was actually really funny on that Gotham Tonight episode (kinda funny how much more Anthony Michael Hall had to do in the virals than in the actual movie), and the nightclub/"where is he!" scene is one of my favorites in the movie. That was kind of Roberts' "big" moment in TDK, and he did good.

Very charismatic. I love his facial expressions... cracks me up everytime.

Man, what a supporting cast this movie has: 'Batman 3' definitely needs Tom Sizemore!

I really like Christopher Nolan's casting choices (another great example is David Bowie in 'The Prestige')

Am I the only one who thought he was a ****** actor?

EDIT: Ok, he isn't a bad actor, he just delivered things in the wrong ways like "pick a better spot" was delivered bad. "It was ramirez" was also delivered terribly.

Nah... Like I said, he's pretty charismatic and flamboyant. That's simply his take on Maroni. He's got that "whatever" attitude, that "nonchalance", that I liked very much.
