Hello everyone for the past month i have been having a problem with my PS3, I can't play online. I thought it was just a fluke but now it has become quite annoying. The Only way i can go online is buy using my internet browser first and that only works sometimes. And when i am not able to sign in the message comes up DNS error 80710102 saying that i am unable to connect and i should check my internet connection and when i do that it just keeps checking for the internet connection and when i try to cancel my PS3 freezes.

So i was hoping that maybe one of you can help me out. Should i call Sony and send my PS3 in?

have you tried resetting your modem/router?

Honestly wish I had an answer. Mainly posting just to let ya know ppl are listening, but no real solution.

The only problem I have is too much cache built up. If I search too many sites, or a really bandwith intensive one my PS3 locks up or goes sluggish. Restarting the PS3 clears all of the cache tho and everything works fine after (why they don't let you fully clear the cache while the machine is on I don't know).

I dunno tho. I'm sure you have, but all I can say is check your settings, check your connection. If nothing else call Sony first, tell them the problem, and see what they say about it. The person on the other side of the phone might be informed about that particular problem. Wish I had something more substantial to say that would help, sorry.

i was having this problem as well for the last two weeks or so. extreeeemely annoying, as you said. i had my brother take a look at it and i think he figured it out, when i see him later tonight ill have him send you a couple answers maybe, and a link or two to some sites that he used to fix the problem.

First, as Havok said, reset your router then run the connection test and see what that tells you. You may want to enter your primary and secondary Dns manually. This has fixed your issue for others.

There are two methods you can use to find out the DNS

1.) Log into your router, and look them up on one of the config pages. (Requires you to know the password and the possibly the username, and the IP address of the router)

2). (Windows XP) Go to your computer, and go into the Network Conncetions, either through Control Panel, or through Network Places (and click on "View Connections", or if you have the little dual computer terminals in your Windows icons on the "Start" bar, which tells you that you are connected to a network, you can double click on that.

Let me know what happens.

This is if you can't find another solution. We couldn't find one anyway, and this fixed the problem.

If the error is with a DNS code then you should change it. A lot of internet service providers don't support ps3 for some reason unknown. I swiped this code off another site having the same problem. Just follow these steps,

1. go to your network settings and select internet connection settings
2. choose to do a custom set up
3. Keep clicking the right button until it asks you about DNS settings and click manual
3. change the primary DNS code to this : 129.250.35.250
and change the secondary to this: 129.250.35.251
4.save settings
5.???
6.profit

Okay i will go do this toomorrow before i call Sony after i come back after school, thank-you guys for all you help. :D :D

You just have to forward the ports on your router (not sure i remember how to do it, but if you look it up you'll find it within five seconds on google)

I did this and now I get smooth sailing on my PS3 all the time, even updates

i resetted my router that did not work and i tried alteregos thing with changing the DNS & so far it works using my ps3 to type kinda cool
