Ever been fired from a job?

Got laid off (more than once), but not fired.

:o that's really the same thing...

Quit is not wanting to work.

Laid off is just like being fired, means your boss is LIKE A BOSS and doesn't care for your face anymore.

Being laid off and fired and not even close to being the same thing. Being fired implies that you did something that you shouldn't have and your employment was terminated as a result. Being laid off is not the result of any action of the employee.

When I was a loud mouthed teenager I got into an argument with the VP of Roadway Packaging Service which is now FedEX Ground. I lost the argument.

Fired. Nope.

Victim of a company that was downsizing. Yep.

Laid Off.... Offered my job back 3 days later, told them to go **** themselves

Yup got into an arguement with my boss about some work that wasnt upto quality, I was annoyed that he emailed me this to my personal email account during my vacation so I let him know about it.

The work environment was waaayyy to tense to get things perfect every single time, if jobs are going to keep coming in as urgent then mistakes are going to be made.

Anyways when i came off my vacation I was given my severence, which I was happy for because I wanted an out without actually quitting lol.

Needless to say I've been freelancing ever since and he is my biggest client lol

Kinda fired/quit. I was working in a Cinema and I was meant to be working at 6pm, but I forgot I was working and decided to watch a movie there with my free passes. My boss came screen to call me out during the movie because some people saw me going in. I told her I quit, but judging from how pissed off she looked, I knew I was going to get canned. I hated working there due to all the new bs rules, so I didn't mind quitting. I was planning on quitting anyway.

What's with all the Spawn threads lately MD?

Also, never been fired. Fired a lot of other people though.

Never had the displeasure of being laid off, or being fired.

The year was 1995 and I had been working at a local Marshall's. Newsflash, it sucked. Anyways, it was just about Christmas time and when I arrived to work one day, a fellow employee offered me a piece of candy. It was from one of those Christmas tins and when she was stocking it, the plastic had been torn. She was going to throw the tin away, because we couldn't sell it. I took the candy without a second thought. The tin was thrown away and I went along with my day. The next day I was let go for "stealing".
It was the best day ever.

Heeeeeeeelllllll......yeah. :csad:

I worked at, I can say it now, SPSS, a data management software company back in '06. They said downsizing, but I suspect otherwise. I was somewhat screwing up in my first few months with my quotas, but I improved.

:o both means that it wasn't your choice though. Check. Mate.

nope, i quit my last job because i got a new one :D

Never been fired. At my last job I was a kinda becoming slightly unstable. For the last year I worked there. I kept it for the most part under wraps. But by that time I reached my limit. And stopped caring about what was happening.

I left 2 days before Christmas and flew arcoss the continent to
Los Angeles to get away, clear my head, and calm down for a little bit.

No. You are responsible for losing your job when you're fired. You aren't responsible when you're laid off.

And checkmate is one word.

Nope. Although I have gotten in some heated arguments with my bosses...but somehow I get away with it.

:o wrong. If a person doesn't want the job, they can quit. Getting fired or being laid off is out of your control.

Checkmate is two words in my world, son.

When you're fired, you're not directly in control of it but it's because of your performance and behavior. Being fired isn't the same thing as being laid off.

Checkmate is two words in my world, son.

Is that why you typed it as one word?

Being fired and laid off is kinda the same thing because the people who get laid off are usually the weakest performers. How often do you see the best employee get laid off?

If it's at a company job where you have to wear a suit to work...and he or she has been there for along time, but is still great at the job, but makes lots of money....probably a lot. Like this example...

50 year old Dean is great at his job and makes a **** load of bling bling.

25 year old Sam is good at his job and makes...some money, but cna do the same things Dean can, but not as great...yet.

Guess who is gonna get laid off. :o and yes, I said bling bling and Dean adn Sam are from SUPERNATURAL.
