I was thinking tonight viewing some manips for Spider-Man 4 on the other subforum and it got me to think. Why does the Vulture has a green suit?. I mean, has anybody seen a green vulture in his life?. How can that be?

Following that thought I realized that most of Spider-Man villans are Green at some sort:

- The Vulture suit is green.
- The Lizard is green.
- Electro suit is green.
- Dr. Octopus original suit was green.
- The Scorpion is green.
- Mysterio suit is green.
- Sandman shirt is green.
- And the Green Goblin. Do I need to say more?

This is not an angry post, just a little curiosity I found. I think it must be for contrast for the Red and Blue Spider-Man. What do you think?

Green...it could represent many terrible things, such as greed, envy, broccoli, hippies and the cool sickly color vomit is often portrayed in. Thus I'm lead to believe that many villains are green because the color itself is in fact evil.

...Okay, not really. I have no idea why the Spider-Man staff of yore had such an affinity for green. Though it's possible it may have been because of color/printing limitations at the time.

Back in the olden days of comics (Golden and Silver Age) colors like green and purple usually were the color schemes for villains.

I think they're are two reasons.

1) Because of printing I think they needed to use bolder colours, that's why some of the background colours are sometimes unrealistic in the old days. Other colours could fade.

2) Ron Fenz said that it probably has a lot to do with the fact that Spidey wears Red and Blue.

I would like to think that Green happens to be Stan Lee's favourite colour.

It would seem a simple enough reason.

Yellow is my colour but I do like green especially Lime green.
