EW's List of 55 Movies Every Child Must See (before they turn 13)

Elf seems a little out of place. And you can replace Titanic with like 50 other different romantic movies like for instance Say Anything.

This list doesn't have Monster Squad, so it is no good.

I totally forgot about Monster Squad.

I'd put in Last Starfighter too.

I was starting to get mad when it took so long for Goonies to show up. That's #1 for me, with Monster Squad being a close #2.

Mostly good list, but was surprised Jaws wasn't mentioned. Also, they were missing a lot of the older classics that can help instill a love for classic movies early in life: Bringing Up Baby, His Girl Friday, Singing in the Rain, Casablanca, and so on. You have to introduce those early for them to continue seeking out the classics throughout life.

I agree with MOST of the list. I probably would have replaced a few newer movies with more classics ('30s, '40s, '50s, '60s, etc.), but I also would have gone with movies that probably would be more a kid's speed - the Universal Monster starters, some Errol Flynn, maybe a Toho kaiju or Hammer flick or two - and I'd also temper the flights of fancy with a little stronger stuff like "Old Yeller", "The Maltese Falcon", "Sunset Boulevard", "Rocky", etc.

Wow, by the time I was 13 I had seen like a few dozen movies total including classics. Movies weren't a huge thing in my house, my first time going to the movie theatre was for a friend's birthday party when I was nine, we went to see Home Alone 2. Since I had never seen a movie before, I thought it was funny.

If I had a 7 year old now, I'd show them Finding Nemo, Lion King, and Frozen. Just to start.

The ones on that list I have never seen:

1. The Red Balloon
2. The Kid
3. The Black Stallion
4. Duck Soup
5. Some Like It Hot

Everything Else I have seen that is on that list.

Any of those films good?
