I cannot find ShadowBoxing's thread.

My question is this. I haven't went jogging in awhile. Mostly due to not having the will power to get myself up early enough to do it. Yesterday I started jogging again. Towards the end, on my way home, I almost felt like throwing up. But that's not my question. Today, my legs really hurt. Should I rest my legs today or go joggin' again?

Another question. My Mum has made me bacon and toast. Should I have that **** now, or after my jog? She said jogging will work it off, but would that food be bad for me while I jog or something?

Okay, I went jogging. All was fine and good.

On the way home, I felt sick again. I sat down to let it subside just like I did yesterday, but today I threw up. I threw up all over the floor. What the **** is up with that? A nice woman stopped and asked if I was okay, very nice of her.

That isn't normal, is it? I never threw up while jogging before.

If you haven't gone jogging in a while, then maybe you are out of shape. Pushing your body to its limits could make your throw up. Take it easy, start out slow, don't run three miles if your body can't handle it. It is best to gradually work your body up to more intense workouts.

I'm pushing myself too hard then? Okey doke. I'll cut it down a bit tomorrow.

I didn't think though my jog yeserday or today was that long. I jog for two minutes, walk for two minutes, and repeat. All together, I probably jogged for 8 or 10 minutes yesterday and 8 or 10 mins today. That's not alot. And I'm not fat, so I'm not that out of shape.

you're throwing up because you jogged for 10 minutes, not even consecutively...

jesus...

Quiet.

That's probably more than a lot of people on this site can go for.

Go for a jog first, and then eat. Your metabolism will still burn the food off quickly after the jog, and you won't have anything in your stomach to throw up.

Nope, it's not normal for people to be kind to kainedamo.

Physical strain makes you ILL??

Maybe you should be WALKING? Seriously thought the effects of jogging are nothing if you are already overweight, what you need is to SERIOUSLY change your diet FIRST and then try to work in exercise. Cardio is all well and good but if you are already overweight jogging really does very little, it does, however, put strain and stress on your joints. If you really want to start getting a cardiovascular workout then get a bike or an eliptical machine so as to aleiviate pressure on your back and joints. Just remember DIET first, then exercise.

I do have one alternate solution... I am assuming that you play video games and as such you should be aware of a certian game that I know will help your current situation. Yes, Dance Dance Revolution is probably the best idea for gamers to get into shape. I have turned many many people on to this idea and I know someone who has personally lost about 50+ pounds from just slightly altering their diet and playing DDR. I do it myself when I don't have time to hit the gym. The cardio workout is up there with any equipment you will find in a gym.

Hope that helps...

But I'm not overweight. I can grab about an inch of fat when I grab my belly and that's it. I'm not in temendous shape, but I'm nowhere near being overweight.

And if I bought DDR, I'd probably crash through the floor of my bedroom. Not 'cause I'm fat! The floor is only floorboards and they're not designed to take heavy bashing.

Nevertheless, you are out of shape, and if your bedroom can withstand the weight of a bed as well as other various furniture you should have no problem. Now if you are worried about the people below you hearing you then you might have cause for concern, my suggestion would be to play on a ground floor or get a bike... but remember if you want to get HEALTHY, you have to change the diet FIRST. Forget the weight loss, it's not about dropping pounds, it's about preparing your body for improvement and the first step to that is to change your diet and it's going to be the toughest step.

Make sure you're jogging, not sprinting. Also foods like bacon and french toast probably isn't the best thing to eat before going for a jog. I always get cramps in my sides if I eat before a jog.

It doesn't sound like Kaine's doing this for weight loss, more like just getting in shape. I think jogging is probably a much better way to get in shape rather than DDR.

Right and if you actually read the post you quoted then you would know that changing the diet is NOT about weight loss, it's about preparing the body to expend the energy it's storing in a more efficient manner. In regards to jogging, it seriously works very little except your lungs. DDR is a VERY good cardio workout, MUCH better for you then jogging and a lot more fun. Everyone thinks that if they eat a burger or something that they can just go run/jog it off, but it doesn't work that way. You cn jog all you want everyday of your life if you want but if that's all you're doing then you're going to have decent lung capacity, you'll be flabby and still out of shape, but your lungs will be decent.

Kaine,

people respond differently to an empty stomach and exercising, i personally like to eat an hour or two beforehand. and your meal should you choose to accept it should be eaten at least an hour before you go out, and packed with protein. bacon is greasy and will not do much for anything except your tastebuds, might contribute to vomiting... and disgusting tasting vomit at that. if its right before you jog and it cant be avoided then take in some simple foods like fruits, breads and low sugar cereal. if i have to, ill go with a tablespoon of peanut butter to quell urges.

eat a good dinner the night before because all of your usefull and "at hand" energy will be born of that. make sure you have plenty of sleep... keep your partying light to none when anticipating a morning run. Drink a tastey amount of water, and dont make it ice cold... that can upset some peoples stomachs, unless its sweltering out. immediately after running grtab a peice of fruit, its satisfying/refreshing and its the perfect time to take in some healthy complex sugars.

I'm doing it for both, really. I wanna get into shape and be healthy, and I wanna look good naked.

BRUTAL makes a good point. I need to change the way I eat aswell as excercise. The problem is I'm not sure what I'm supposed to eat. I mean, today for dinner I had spaghetti bolognese. Should that be a no-no from now on? I also usually like to have alot of bread with my dinners. So I mean... what meals are yes-yes and what meals are no-nos?? For lunch, I had a chicken tikka sandwich.

Bacon does not taste disgusting :(

What would you say is a good breakfast?

Instead of making a new thread I'll just post in here...Hope you don't mind Kaine.

I'm looking to start eating better myself, mainly to lose weight. I've tried searching the net for a basic diet plan but all I can find is South Beach Diet, Atkins, or whatever the latest fad diet is. I just want to know the basics...Calories a day, fat, no fat, carbs, no carbs...etc. The only stipulation is that I am allergic to fish...so that's out. Does anyone know of a website that has good information that I can build a decent diet plan off of?

All I want is a site that lists specific foods and meals, but for some reason I can't find that!

I think he meant it would taste disgusting coming back up, not going down. :o

And nothing should be an absolute no-no, but you should cut down on some things (down, not out) and eat more of others. Reduce the amount of simple starches you eat (most bread, pasta and rice and refined sugar). Up your intake of whole grains (look for whole-grain pasta and bread and brown or wild rice). Up your intake of lean protein and vegetables. Ideally, your plate should be about 1/2 vegatables (and that doesn't mean drowned in butter, cheese or holandaise sauce), 1/4 lean meat and 1/4 whole grain. Use fats sparingly - and when you do, try to use unsaturated fats like olive oil, avacados or nuts.

For dessert, or a snack, have fruit.

I do not excerise. I am fat, flabby and sometimes things got lost inside me. :csad:
