EXCL: Henry Cavill up for JLA Superman?

Hi Guys
Long time no posting. I usually talk in the 007 boards, some may remeber me. I provided news regarding the production of Casino Royale and future plans for the Bond films. My firends who were involved in CR, won't be returning for Bond 22 sadly, instead they are neak deep in pre production in Australia....for....you guessed it....JL.
I must admit I know nothing about JL, as a kid I only really liked Batman, and now all I know is that Batman movies are the best ones getting made with Chris Nolan.
But I talked to the guys, and they confirmed that last week testing took place for the Flash and Wonder Woman. This could leave us to wonder why haven't we heard about testing for the other characters? Are they cast?
Well from what I've heard former Superman contender, has met several times recently with JL's Miller over the last month for an unspecified role in the film......put 2 and 2 together people!!!! My firends thought this might interest me as he was of course the man who would have been Bond if Craig had turned down the part.

So that's the talk. I'll try to do some digging. Cavill seems to young and weedy to play Supes imo.

Have the impression that Cavill is the neverending runner up. ^^

Can dig him as Superman. He is still a bit young, but has become more older-looking since he was one of the "contenders" for the role in Superman Returns.

I think it makes sence to get Routh back, leave Bale alone but you might as well as get Routh, I don't think he planns to be a one-hit Superman.

I agree, is this just you "assuming" that it is Cavill who is up for Superman? I don't mean to sound like a dick I was just curious because a lot of people were up for the role before.

I am guessing Cavill is up for Superman, what I'm not guessing is his involvement. He has met Miller a number of times over the last few weeks.
But he would make sence as he was McG's no.1 pick for Supes.

Oh, and I don't get this Henry Cavill character, lets keep Routh as Superman ... nobody does it better.

Oh lord not this guy again. After seeing him in Stardust ijust gotta say there is nothing Super about him. I don't why some keep rooting for this guy. Why in the world would WB cast him when they already have a good Superman in Routh? I don't know WB is thinking, they really should stick with the guys that have already been established as Bats and Supes. I can see them recasting Bats do to the Bale situation, but they can get Routh. I just don't get it?

I like Cavill because he has a decent look now that he's grown up and he can act his BUTT off, but he's basically been ruled out already by his commitment to filming The Tudor's series.

Like I said in another post, initially I didnt want Cavill as Superman because he looked so baby faced in a lot of the pix of him that were out during the casting hoopla.

However, recently I've been watching showtimes "The Tudors" and Cavill has become very Supermanly. He has overall physical characteristics of Superman and his voice what you would expect from The Man of Steel. Were he to hit the gym a bit, and grow out his hair to have the trade mark "S" curl I'm confident he would make a wonderful Superman.

I buy into this rumor a bit more. He finished second place in the Bond sweepstakes (according to Martin Campbell). We also know Nolan tested him for Batman, and McG for Superman. So he isn't new to WB. I think he would fit Superman well, but he might be a dark horse for Batman given his past auditions. I know the Bond people really liked his auditions but the only thing that worked against him was his age.

In 3-5 more years, this guy would make a hell of a Superman.

I think we're jumping the gun here, "former Superman contender" could mean anyone.

This rumour could also mean Welling after all. (former contender et al)

For the record, I've always supported Cavill.

He can act. He's got the look for Superman. (More than Bond, methinks) And he's the right age. He would have to bulk up, and at 6' they'd have to lift him a bit, but he'd be fine.

henry cavill is a really talented up and coming actor, he has no pretence about him, im saying it now my money is on him to get the role (starts crossing his fingers) he has put on a bit of muscle recently for the tudors so many pictures people have seen are out of date. I like many of the people on here would have loved tom welling to do it but i think henry has a more realistic chance

I remember when Cavill wasn't just a contender for Supes on SHH, he was the #1 TOP CONTENDER on SHH when the Superman movie was being revisioned. That was back in '03, when I first was a member here. That pic above is CLEARLY not his best shot at looking like Supes but there's plenty all over the net that smoke this one. Cavill is young, 6'1, 24 (good age for JLA) now and from this shot looks like he put on some more weight since he was last a top contender on this site. This ain't no lil' kid from The Counte of Monte Cristo anymore. Now that we're more focused on a new film that WB guarantees is going down, I can roll with Cavill, no problem. U need to get that mug in the gym, get the CK look back, and he's a shoe-in for the Supes role with no problem.

If not Cavill, I say Welling. But since Welling never wants to do that role, for fear of stereotyping in his acting, then I roll with Cavill. (Can't say I blame Welling for that decision...)

p.s. If you're not watching Smallville watch it, with season 7 and 8 left, the good stuff is around the corner
