The F.E.A.R. series has been contorted into a free-to-play online multiplayer shooter, developed by Korean company Inplay Interactive and published by MMOs-you’ve-probably-never-heard-of specialists Aeria Games. According the press release, F.E.A.R. Online “will focus on several team combat modes spanning over ten ominous maps packed with grotesque details such as still-twitching bodies hanging from meat hooks and messages smeared in blood.” Messages like “Have you remembered to buy enough Aeria Funbucks?”, perhaps?

    F.E.A.R. Online Arrives October 17

It's been more than three years since the last F.E.A.R. game was released, but now the creepy ghost girl Alma is about to return to our lives because F.E.A.R. Online will hit the PC on October 17. Anyone who wants to play it a little early can sign up for the beta test that begins on October 8. F.E.A.R. Online is a free-to-play shooter that takes place at the same time as the events of the second game, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. Players take the role of investigators in the F.E.A.R. task force out to uncover the secrets of the sinister Armacham Technology Corporation, and they’ll be able to unite in groups of four to fight for their lives. Enemies include the hostile Armacham personnel along with the usual assortment of monsters.
Publisher Aeria Games promises there will be plenty of different maps, scenarios, and a new crafting system. Judging by the trailer above, the graphics don’t look as good as they do in the other F.E.A.R. games, but keep in mind that it’s free-to-play.
