The law sounds like it's really messed up in Atlanta, if you ask me. In Pennsylvania nothing would have happened since the boy is 17 years old, still one year before becoming a legal adult, therefore...perfectly legal for a 17 year old to get head from a 15 year old girl.

And it was HEAD! A freakin' BJ! If the kid were smart he should have said he learned it from Bill and Monica. He'd have been set free and given a book deal.

Nope, because theyr under the age to be able to make their own decisions about this kind of things... legally.
If everyone had sex when they thought they were ready theyd all be having sex when their 12 and 13 and such.. but theyre not ready then emotionally for it... and thered be ridiculously high levels of teen pregnancies, STDs, and all sorts of problems. Thus we have laws to take the decision out of their hands until theyre old enough to be able to make a responsible decision.

Edit: yep i know its for Oral sex, but still, the emotional maturity that should be needed is the same.

No matter what way you look at it, ten ****ing years is an unacceptable sentence.

In fact, under Georgia law, the penalty is actually more severe for a person found guilty of engaging in oral sex with a minor than for having intercourse (which is classified as misdemeanor statutory rape), even if the perpetrator is just a few years older than the minor.


I think Georgia needs to take a look at their laws and make some changes.


That 17yr old would have gotten lesser time if he had intercourse with her...just goes to show you that our justice system has some serious problems.

It said consentual oral, i.e. a ******* or something. I mean he's going in jail not even out of high school, and coming out 10 years shy of middle age. IMO that's way to harsh. Heck some cases revolving around murder have given lighter sentences. Shame, the kid goes in with good grades and never having commited a crime, and comes out a life time sex offender and 27 years old for having one consenual blow job. I can understand some jail time as it's the law, but make it reasonable, even 3 years would be better than 10.

Wow, that makes it even WORSE now. I mean the kid would have gotten LESS if he would have actually banged her?

Didn't this entire nation go through that "What is sexual relations" crap with the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal? Cripes...a President of the United States even said that a BJ isn't sexual relations.

If you ask me Clinton himself needs to step in and start laying the wood on some of these uptight mofos in Georgia.

I was actually disagreeing with what his sentencing. All I was saying there was that I personally think children and young teens should stay away from sex because with all those hormones they rarely think straight. I remember the look on the face of a girl I went to highschool with that was pregnant, never seen such a look of depression.

I on the other hand in the same post you quoted said that that sentencing was disgusting. I meant that I think they should steer clear of sex, but I disagree with slapping major jail time down for it.

Why didnt he just go for a plea bargain like all the other people up on trial with him? One of his mates got a 12 year old pregnant and was punished less than him.

Agreed, that's messed up. Anytime you can get more jail time for what should be a lesser offense purely because of what it falls under is wrong. A judge should use common sense in a case like this. Being labled as a sexual predator or whatever for the rest of his life is bad enough, having to spend a little more than what would be half his life at this point in jail is wrong (only 17, 10 years in jail).

I think the girl was black aswell. A lot of people connected to the case believe its not an issue and would have had the same result regardless.
