What did people think of this issue?

I kind of expected much more.

It seems like I've heard Peter give this "I don't think I can do the whole superhero thing anymore" speech a thousand times already. Also I understand that he looks up to Captain America, about 90 percent of the heroes in the Marvel universe do...but damn get your head out of his ass Spidey. "He was just..just so heroic..oh cap oh cap". Spider-man has taken on tougher foes then Cap has and been through more. Question, did this fight between Cap and Spider-man vs. Hulk ever take place? I have trouble believing that Hulk dropping unconcious on account of a few Cap punches.

On the other hand, the art was freaking beautiful. That two page splash of running going crazy and tackling Spider-man was jaw dropping.

Overrall though, Average issue.

Poor Rhino

I am getting tired of Peter's "Oh no, it's all my fault. Sorry Uncle Ben, Gwen, I've failed you...." speeches....

The art was DELICIOUS!

But on the flip side it just reminded me that they don't routinely give Spider-Man the best artists, which is a sore spot...

I liked the story... it could have been more, and won't make my top 10 list, but it was good. I liked the way they contrasted the fight with the Rhino, with his memory of the fight with the Hulk... and the way Captain A inspired him. But I ALSO have to ask... did that really happen? I thought Spider-Man was stronger than Captain America... I mean, how did he take down the Hulk like that... Or is he just larger than life in Peter's memory now?

I felt weird having Wolverine in the story.

His speech about Cap's insistence on having Spidey on the team, only to be completely owned by Spidey's recent memory, was just kind of stupid.

It definitely fit in with the rest of the books (in that it wasn't very good), but this one seemed more like filler than a story.

But it IS realistic... I KNOW from experience... with every new loss there is the tendency to relive the ones from the past as well. Sucks...

Spider-man is stronger then Cap....about 10 times stronger or so. I hate how Spidey is always in awe of Cap, because lets face it..if Spidey wanted to, he could end a fight between himself and Cap in about two mins tops.

???

Thats exactly why he's in awe of him. Because Cap is this normal human being with normal human strength and he's always doing everything Spidey would do no matter the danger to himself.

I understand that....but Spider-man seems so cowardly and weak when he's doing that.

It was a nice little issue...glad I didn't buy it. It was an enjoyable read though.

Cap levelling Hulk could be chalked up to Cap being the greatest warrior in 616, with an absolute mastery of martial arts (AKA, knowing the exact right spot to punch.)

Okay, I'm done defending it...it was lousy writing.

It was an all right issue. I guess some people are seeming to forget that these Fallen Son issues are about the different phases of depression. Spider-Man is acting like that because a fellow hero just freakin' died. I'd like to see someone that everyone here looked up to die and then see how you all handle it. I doubt anybody here is going to all be like, "Oh...he's dead? I'll just go move on since that's what comic book fans want me to do!"

Anyway...Finch has definitely improved greatly with drawing faces. It seems he reads a lot of Internet comments, heh. But I liked the previous Fallen Son issue to the Spider-Man one.

Just found out that this issue has different covers, one with Spidey kneeling in rain and another Spidey and Captain America in the background. So which one is rarely or just the same?

I hear you on that one.

The title is 'DEPRESSION.' Peter is NOT going to be sure and full of himself as he's DEPRESSED.

He's the one character as a natural choice for this part of Fallen Son, (out of ALL the stages of grieveing,) as he's far too human to be gung ho, hysteric, blaze, or planning some other attack. He does what many people do when someone they very much admire dies. You reflect, and Peter's reflection leads hi to think aout all the other death he's endured.

I swear, most of you here complain for the sake of complaining. It was a good story, and the characters in the Marvel U haven't been this connected or 3-D in a very long time.

I'd give the book about a 3.9/5.0

The art was awesome and seeing Spidey kick someone as powerful as Rhino's ass was cool.
