Writer/director Eric Red tells Arrow in the Head that he has cast Famke Janssen ("X-Men" films, GoldenEye) in the supernatural thriller 100 Feet.

"We've been fortunate to cast Famke Janssen in the role of Marnie," says Red. "Famke is a beautiful actress of great presence and intelligence, completely dedicated to the realism of character and performance. With Famke's timeless beauty, she will bring glamour and star power to the role of Marnie, reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn in the classic 'Wait Until Dark.' I'm certain the audience will adore watching her. I'm incredibly excited. Nobody could play the part better!"

In the film, a young woman, Marnie Watson, is granted early release from her prison sentence for manslaughter (killing her husband - a violent NYC cop - in self defense) on condition she wear an electronic ankle bracelet and remain within her home, effectively under house arrest, for the remainder of her sentence. Her late husband's partner keeps tabs on her from a patrol car parked across the street, hoping she'll violate probation and he can send her back to prison. But the 100-foot radius her ankle bracelet allows isn't the worst of her problems. Her dead husband --now a malevolent ghost--is still in the house, where he died -- intent on savage revenge.

100 Feet is scheduled to start shooting in April in Brooklyn, New York and Budapest, Hungary.

I was really liking the sound of this as a psychological thriller and then the ghost bit popped up:csad:

The ghost bit is a bit far fetched, but it sounds interesting nonetheless.

This sounds goofy as hell. It really does. Video games aren't this goofy, and they have the stupidest plot lines ever. Though if there is a scene of Famke showering or in a bubble bath, I'm down.

Sure. Why not? I'm tired of the usual 'con on parole, wondering if he/she will do wrong again' plot.

The special effects were better than I thought.

It sounded good untill the ghost part lol Trailer doesn't look to bad, and I always end up going to see horror, thrillers lol.

It's either this, or watch her again play the anguished mother of a kidnapped child. Taken (2008) has been released in France, starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace (formerly of Lost) and Famke Jannssen. While the story was co-written by Luc Besson, I've seen Famke play a similar role in "Don't Say a Word" (2001).

well her indie Turn the River also sounds great its about about a gambler who takes her last shot at redemption when she tries to win enough money to kidnap her own son from his abusive father and escape with him across the border to start a new life. and its her personal favourite of her whole career , it got some raving reviews (http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117935356.html?categoryid=31&cs=1 ) won awards at the festival for it's unflinching realism, pitch perfect dialogue and 3 dimensional characters in a world that is so often given to stereotypes(including a special jury best actress "for a brave and touching portrayal of a woman fighting for her child and her life." ) and based on it's festival run has an IMDB rating of 9.8 /10 (only fifty something votes though but still super impressive)
we should get a trailer for that one soon

That's crap poster. I guess it's a promo.

Considering that poster was made before this film is even done, yeah - j'accord. I found such posters for unfinished films on a Russian website.

The trailer looks like a B-Movie...

Shes still hot though.

Here's the official teaser poster for this film:

This films is coming over here in two weeks. Yaaay!

Update:

I watched this film today. I have to agree with the critics on this one. It's the acting that's the strongest part of the film. Traditional special effects are better than the CGI effects. The scares aren't very original and the plot isn't complicated. But the acting is certainly very good. It's hard to believe Famke has played deadly femme fatales in the past. She plays a very convincing battered wife in 100 Feet. Her plight is even more horrible with the fact that it's her husband's ghost who's hitting her - and at the right times too. I can see how the neighbors too wouldn't believe her.

I wish there were flashbacks with Michael Pare involved, along with more background music. They could have developed the character of the ghost more. But then, what more do you have to know about an abusive husband/dirty cop?

This is a decent horror/thriller carried by a good performance by Famke that has some unexpected and surprisingly gory scenes. While no classic it was indeed a pleasant surprise and worth a look on dvd.

7.5/10

Exactly.

One thing i didn't understand is why everyone seemed to have abandoned her after the murder of her husband? Surely someone must have known that he was abusive and had it coming.

I liked how she put up a fight though but having sex in front of the dead husband pushed all the wrong buttons and that poor delivery boy suffered a very heavy price for it.:(
