He would have had to have been - I'd say Tony Stark was about 35 or 40 in the film, so if Howard Stark was alive that would have made him at about 65-75 which would have made him no more then a young child during WWII

I thought H. Stark was in his 40's or 50's in the brief appearance I think he has in IM2, but that scene was in the 1970's or something. So he could be 22-23 in WW2. If he had Tony at like 47-48, the math could sort of work.

That's possible - Come to think of it, Tony does say in IM 1 that his father helped defeat the Nazis and Stane says he helped develop the atom-bomb, so he must've been around in WWII

yea i think its been said before howard should be showing up in cap and we know he worked in world war 2 and all that. Now howard is likely born probably in mid 20s. So that would put in in late 20s/early 30s by ww2. So then tony was probably born in what late 60s right. So howard would be 40s or so when he had tony. and died in his 60s/ when tony was a kid.

From the other thread. From the brief excerpts, Favs basically confirms they will cast a younger actor. Think DiCaprio in the beginning of the Aviator. I say get DiCaprio to do a Howard Hughes cameo while you are at it.

yea i say howard should/will be in his 20s or so and when he died in the 70s he was like in his 60s. Which would fit well. Its 30 yrs between 70s-40s. So if he was born in the 20s he would be in his 20s by the 40s, and then by time he has tony would be near 50s.

Yeah I didn't expect John Slattery to be in it, but I do think Howard Stark will play some role, at least in the Avengers angle.

yea should be interesting to see what howard role in first avenger will be. now in im2 in spoilers if any one knows not to kill it for fans who havent see im2 did they say when howard died. Cause if we have a figure on when he died, subtract to the time of first avenger being 1940/41 we could pretty much figure how old howard should be around.

Stan didn't create Cap though, right? The only cameos that are needed are Hitler and possibly FDR.

I'm starting to think an English actor might be better for someone like FDR. After all, the production is in the UK and besides, an Australian played Winston Churchill in "Inglorius Basterds". Does anyone have any ideas?

Maybe Hugh Bonneville? (Lost in Austen, upcoming Burke and Hare film)

Brendan Gleeson did a great job as Churchill in "Into the Storm," though I can't imagine him being hired just for a cameo.

probably not unless he was friends with cast/crew and did it as a favor. If its just a mere cameo for the role, i rather then just hire some look alike actor to do a scene or two.

Yeah, I'm sure there's a plethora of actors who could do him justice in a cameo. Just so long as it didn't veer into caricature.

It seems the Invaders only have one memorable scene in this film so a Winston Churchill cameo seems unlikely

Still hoping for an FDR/Elenor Roosevelt cameo though! I really really want to see FDR give Captain America the shield.
