Famous Role = Career Killer?

I know there's a few people on here that are actors, don't know how well known they are, but I'm sure they'd hate to be known as the guy that ****ed the pie, like Jason Biggs is.

I wouldn't mind getting "known" for 1 spectacular role. If you're a good enough actor, you'll be able to break out if it....unlike Viggo Mortensen. That dude hasn't done anything near Aragorn level since. Hidalgo, psh :

I thought Viggo was actually pretty good in A History of Violence and Eastern Promises, but in terms of box office I doubt he would be able to do anything that compares to LOTR trilogy.

One actress who still can't get rid the stigma of her infamous role is Elizabeth Berkeley, for her performance in the movie Showgirls. Frankly, I don't understand why she got hounded merciless over that role. I mean, even Demi Moore had starred in a movie called Strip Tease, and no one ever criticized her for it.

I thought History of Violence was incredibly overrated, the movie was horribly boring and didn't make a whole lot of sense.
