Between the bad S/E, horrible marketing, tie in's with perverted names and just all around crazy shenanigans, it really does seems like Fox is pranking us all. Thing's creme filled snack? Come on! Someone in power should have seen that this does not sound right.

I wonder what the "flaming adventure" is?:o

My suspicion is that the people in marketing are Arrested Development fans who are just messing around now and their mantra is "What would Tobias Funke call it?"

How would any of the rumors violate the licensing agreement? Also if it was that dire, I doubt Disney would be OK with Kinberg working on the Star Wars franchise so heavily.

On Kinberg, he is major face saving mode. He hired Trank and then recommended him to Lucasfilms. It is one of the reasons why he has tried so hard to keep this film on track and to cover up Trank's issues. It is why he asked Vaughn to try and come it to save the situation.

IIRC, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Kinberg was the one who warned Disneyaboht all of Trank's on set antics and the BTS problems he caused. Kinberg had a lot on the line professionally, so it would make sense for him to get Trank off the SW project. Nobody would want that albatross hanging around their neck.

Yup, especially since last year when it was announced that Trank got the job it was Kinberg who took credit for it.

That's because he was full of it. It was somebody trying to stir stuff up. It was confirmed at Comic-Con that the film was only completed three days prior.

Anyway... news, sort of.

At my Ant-Man screening, I got a different trailer. It was weird. It's basically an amalgamation of the other trailers, but it's very deceptive. It felt like a last minute replacement for the new trailer after the flack for the bad CG and bad wig. It featured some of the new stuff, but it also used scenes that weren't in the new one (but have been in other trailers/spots). For a moment, I thought it was the international trailer, but it wasn't (I'm in the US). A portion of Jamie Bell's line about Reed not being able to fix things was there, the burn victim Doom shot was gone, the tank was gone, they mostly dropped the bad wig shots, and the magma was back to red (no green glow present). It was really odd.

Strange, but true.

Wow. They are scrambling now. So desperate.

Take it for what it's worth, but Kinberg publicly defended Trank and said all those rumors were not true.

I'm shocked.

And where was he, or ANY of them, when Trank got fired from Star Wars? Or when all the rumors were actually flying?

After the fact defense where very few people are paying attention now means dick all.

Jeff Bridges said they didn't have a finished script when they filmed Iron Man.

A brand new studio on it's first big budget feature film.

They got REALLY lucky.

FOX has been around for decades and has made 1000s of movies. There's no excuse for them and this crap production.

IM is the exception to the rule.

Also I've been watching the previous FF films. As horrible as they were, Evans really owned the role of Johnny Storm. He was the highlight of those films and his relationship with Ben they really did it rather well.He really had fun with the role. Seems so strange since he's playing Captain America now.

Since this FFINO is a "serious" take on the FF, whilst MBJ will probably be good. I doubt he'll be the humorous and cocky Storm. Seems like they're trying way to hard to make him a badass. And his relationship with Ben is gonna be barely touched upon. Always liked their back and fourth between those two characters.

BTW noticed on one of the new TV spots that they said it was PG13, any sign of it at any of the ratings bodies? I haven't seen it on the BBFC or Alberta Film Ratings site.

During the Sony email fiasco it was revealed that Kinberg was texting Pascal about Trank. They didn't go into detail about it because Kinberg said he was at a dinner while they were texting, but he told Pascal that he had already told the Disney executives "the truth about Trank".

Took him long enough. Also it's interesting that out of everyone involved in this production, not a single one of them (including Trank's good buddy MBJ) has offered up any sort of defense or made any public statements in support of him up until Kinberg's latest interview, when promotion for the film has started. It's just too little too late.

:up::up::up:

Matthew Vaughn has been quite silent about this film as well. After the rumor about him doing the reshoots died, I haven't heard him voice his opinion about the film in a couple months. Was he even at CC?

Yes because people in the entertainment business have never lied about crap to defend projects they are attached to.

This is how much I think it's worth

Too bad he couldn't save the costumes. No amount of reshoots could. They're just plain ugly. I mean, Crossbones in Civil War doesn't have a comic-accurate costume but it at least looks cool.

Yeah Kinberg said something in Trank's defense, a month after the story came out, and he is the only person that has ever offered any denial of the story. When the story came out there were no friends jumping to his defense, no colleagues, no members of the FF production crew or cast saying something about the story, there was a mass of silence. They were not even "sorry to hear..." "hope to see what you do next" or any other of the usual bull lines that come out. The only person to say anything about the firing story at the time was the guy who wrote Trank's one and only film, and all he said was "Karma".

I hope FF fails, both critically and financially so the rights go back to Marvel. During Ant-Man's previews (Ant-Man was awesome btw), there was this weird trailer, as another guy mentioned few comments earlier, that is a version of the teaser trailer, features less fake lighthing, Sue's awful wig and the lava is back to red. Also, after the logo appearing in the end of the trailer, there is that weird shot of the Thing falling over a tank from the sky. I've searched everywhere online and couldn't find that exact trailer.

Bad casting choices, bad CGI, stupid humor, almost non-existent marketing and one of the best comic book villains, messed up and turned into an angry blogger (or they claim he isn't now?), is just inexcusable for a studio that desperately wants to keep the FF rights. Don't have even the slightest idea how this movie wasn't cancelled until this point. I will be watching M:I Rogue Nation instead of this.

Good to hear other people are getting that amalgamation trailer. At least now I know I'm not crazy. :p

It's basically a Frankenstein's monster of a trailer, stitching together the semi-decent shots from the other ones and cutting the noticeably awful shots.

If this happens, with the current situation between the studios, I can see Fox sitting on the rights for 8 years and letting them revert back naturally.

If I wanted the rights to revert back that much, I'd say it's better if this film financially breaks even and is critically panned. Then Fox knows that a sequel wouldn't likely succeed. They can look at Marvel and say FF have some financial worth and Marvel maybe has the opportunity to buy them back

Complete failure would be better for reversion prospects. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance reverted pretty much instantly after its utter failure. The best bet for a deal would probably be for FF to perform so abysmally that an X-Men television show would make more money, even were it to only last a season (Gotham made tens of millions before an episode aired with streaming deals).

In the new tv spots it seems like Sue is the leader of the team.

Just curious; no bad intentions meant with this question or questioning people's opinions on this film:

Do you think this will fail because you don't like how the film is looking (i.e. not a Fan4 film) or because you generally think it looks like a horrible POS movie?

Or at least make a Spidey like deal with marvel. Why studios wouldnt be open to this idea IDK why, its minimal risk and legwork on their end while they can just let Marvel do all the work while they sit back and collect a check.

I think it is failing more for me as it isn't feeling like a F4 film. I think they should keep them lighter but not as light as the first 2.

To be honest, I think if the casting was done better and Doom looked better, people might be more intrigued.

A little of column A, a little of column B. As a Fantastic Four adaptation, it's lousy. Despite what they try to say, it's not even much of an Ultimate adaptation. At one point, I'd have said it looked somewhat okay for an original sci-fi film. The problem is that the finished effects, both CG and practical, look shockingly bad in some shots. Ignoring the loyalty of adaptation, that wig and some of the effects shots are just bad. There was also a CG plane in a television spot I managed to see on a 70" television. Not sure how it looks on YouTube, as I haven't sought that out, but on a large television it looked bad for a big summer film. It was certainly better than a SyFy channel film effect, but I'd still put it closer to, say, network television.

Sorry, my mistake. The trailer I was talking about was actually the teaser trailer. Doesn't matter, I still hope the movie fails lol.
