Just curious; no bad intentions meant with this question or questioning people's opinions on this film:

Do you think this will fail because you don't like how the film is looking (i.e. not a Fan4 film) or because you generally think it looks like a horrible POS movie?
I think it generally looks like a bad movie. I think the film will fail because the buzz and marketing aren't good.

I think if Ant-Man, which will have better reviews and had better marketing and the Marvel name can only open with 58mil then why on earth would this film with even more disadvantages open much above 40 million?

I wouldn't go as far as calling it "horrible POS", but it looks boring and formula to me. There doesn't seem to be anything 'fantastic' in anything we've seen.

The latter. I think it goes way beyond simply 'not like the comics' at this stage. It looks like a bad movie, period.

As it stands, removing my FF fan bias, the film looks like it could be a decent sized hit and make it's money back comfortably. I do think that it will play to critics, and the WOM will be okay.
But it legitimately does have some shots that raise my eyebrow. Everything looks off, the special effects need a good deal of touching up, and the Thing is especially problematic. The one shot of them walking in a line looks inexcusably poor.

Did anyone else see the new TV spot with Johnny flying through the warm hole dogding air plane parts? Good lord it looks terrible.

Is that what that was? I had no idea what I was looking at.

I can't see critics letting all this horrible CGI work and obvious green screen slide. That's the type of stuff they feed on.

True, but I think this is going to get a pass from a lot of people for doing something different. I really do see Trank's vision clicking with an audience, I do think this could play to some people. It honestly looks like Chronicle, and Chronicle was a modest hit. So I could see enough people enjoying this.

So, how the movie got approved until this stage? Looks like an unfinished product. It's like everyone including the cast and director know that this won't turn out well, yet nobody talks about it nor does anything about it. Seems they don't even care about their product.

Yep.

Right at the end. It looks like a bad video game. And Johnny's flight looks unnatural. Good lord after MoS, Iron Man, Vision and even Green LanternLantern, how have they not gotten right Johnny Storm flying? Heck the flight scenes in Chronicle look better than this ****.:down

I'm not saying all the effects will be perfect; but remember, most movies' effects are worked on up until the very last minute before it HAS to be shipped out to theatres.

I know every Transformers movie has done this (doesn't guarantee quality) and even music can be worked on until the very last minute. Look at the making-of Aliens and Alien 3. Crazy how late in the game those scores were finished.

If this happens, with the current situation between the studios, I can see Fox sitting on the rights for 8 years and letting them revert back naturally.

If I wanted the rights to revert back that much, I'd say it's better if this film financially breaks even and is critically panned. Then Fox knows that a sequel wouldn't likely succeed. They can look at Marvel and say FF have some financial worth and Marvel maybe has the opportunity to buy them back

The problem with waiting for the rights to revert naturally is that Fox ends up getting nothing out of the deal, it won't even do much to Marvel's MCU plans since they are covered for a good 5 of the 8 years anyway. If Fox make a deal for an early reversion they at least give themselves a chance to bargain for something in return.

A simple answer would be that they didn't really have a choice, they tried to avoid it as long as possible but if they didn't go ahead the rights would have reverted to Marvel for free by now.

You really think that shot looks good?:funny: I've seen better. Looks like a bad video game cut scene lol.

I thought it looked great, but some people will com pain about anything. I don't understand people who hate on this movie so much still post in the forums. Like, we get it. You hate everything about this movie.

Good point, but if the film is horrible financially, along with the FF comic book sales before its cancellation and the fact it won't affect Marvel's plans, they may not be that interested in striking a deal to get them back.

However, Marvel showed before how much they wanted Silver Surfer and Galactus so maybe Fox could still get something good.

A deal for early reversion would be best for the relationship too. I'm all for Fox sacrificing the Fantastic Four film rights to open up a better relationship between with Marvel, on the merchandise front and maybe even cooperation over the X-Men tv rights. (I do however want to see a good movie out of this FF film)

I don't think Marvel would be chomping to get a FF movie going but I think they would start using from the FF support characters almost immediately, I think people would have a massive geekout if one of the GOTG2 stingers was Silver Surfer in space above a planet.

It didn't even look like there was a person in that cluster**** of flame.

The Thing looks great in the new TV spot. Looks like they put more work to improve his design.

I'd imagine they would introduce the team before their own solo film. Maybe get Dr. Doom as the main villain of an Avenger film. One can dream.

People need to move on from the rights reverting stuff. Even if this movie fails, Fox is not going to give it back to Marvel. The relationship between the studios is so toxic. They'll sit on the rights and give it to another talented director, or they'll stick the FF into another X-Men film (New Mutants). Fox is not going to allow another property to slip through their fingers like Daredevil or Star Wars.

Hasn't it been established that they can't put the FF in with the X-Men? Besides, why would they bother making ANOTHER FF film when after this it'll be shown that they can't bring a profit from the franchise from the little effort they want to put into it?

From a petty aspect I could see this happening but how would they explain this to their stockholders if Disney is offering a reasonable amount of cold hard cash on franchise that has just put them in the red? (Hypothetically speaking)
