Fant4stic: Reborn! - - Part 36

As I posted in another thread

I hope this film is awesome since it will give Fox leverage to get Marvel to stop playing hardball and work out a similar deal that they worked out with Sony and Universal.

IMO, the best way to merge universes is to do House of M at the tail end of Phase 4. Have Doom tempt Wanda with a world where her brother is alive and have her remake reality so the Avengers are now in a world with the FF and the past and present X-Men where Magneto rules the world with Doom looking to usurp.

The end result is that there's now a new universe when reality is restored with only a few continuity fixes and for the most part, all of the First Class and MCU timelines happened. We get Fox-Men Quicksilver and MCU

I like your creativity, but it seems way too confusing for the general audience. They need to work on getting this film off the ground, picking a new director for the sequel, and then setting up for the crossover in 2018. Anything with Marvel should only come IF both studios are in trouble and need a PR boost.

I just want Marvel to stop acting like the X-Men and FF no longer exist.

And for a new director, I hope it's Alfonso Cuaron. FF with the director of Gravity.

IF Marvel and Fox are willing to play nice, sharing characters could be relatively easy.

Right now, we basically have three alternate Earths - Marvel Earth, X-Men Earth and FF Earth.

If Fox would be willing to work with Marvel and allow them to have the ultimate say in how characters are designed, used and shared, Marvel could allow X-Men and FF to cross-over as characters from alternate worlds, Galactus could threaten all worlds, Hulk could crossover and battle the FF, Doom could try to take over the Avenger's world, etc. etc. etc.

But that would require a higher level of cooperation than either side has been willing to do so far and Fox would have to stick to certain specific templates provided by Marvel so that their characters were accurate enough to be used by Marvel. (I'm sure Marvel has no interest in using garbage-bag Doom, for example).

Speaking of Kang, I wonder how they're going to utilize him? Ultimate Marvel had a good idea of implementing Kang by having him bring weapons from the future in form of Stark Industries but that got scrapped. I still feel that idea alone (super soldier serum and whatnot from the future) used could have a good story, but it lacks the space adventure aspects.

The actual Kang used in Ultimate Marvel ended up being a savior in the form of Sue Storm. :b But yeah classic Kang is always good too.

For one thing, Cuaron is able to finish his effects shots on time. For another, he'd fit the tone that Josh Trank set but he'd be infinitely better at doing it.

I'd like to see something like the John Byrne run where the team uses actual science to combat fantastic problems and he'd be the guy to do it in a visually striking way.

Plus the sequel needs better costuming. Just give us matching uniforms with an insignia. That's all I ask.

Alfonso Cuaron Directing, John Byrne advising, doing some writing and production design and a budget between 150 and 200 million.

If Fox actually did that*, I could become a supporter of the sequel.

*This will happen when pigs fly.:cwink:

Marvel isn't about to promote another event besides Infinity War. Besides they are losing Thor and Cap actors with those movies so I doubt they will throw money at them for another movie crossing over with Fox.

HERE IS WHAT I AM SEEING IN THIS FORUM....

2. Those that are not happy with this movie have turned this forum into a SPAM convention with their jokes. MOVE ON TO SOMETHING YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO SEE.
Sorry.
Can we get a lounge for that?

I want to see Reed's full body stretch.

TASM is an unfortunate situation. Great actors and performances. But goddamnit Orci/Kurtzman. And Origins still gave me Shrieber as Sabertooth.

I suspect, worst case scenario, I will still enjoy the performances.

What became of the Spidey franchise before Marvel stepped in (and of course, the rights situation for Marvel films as a whole) is the fault of Avi Arad, and no one else.

I don't blame Webb, nor any of the writers. I don't even blame Amy Pascal, who only let him reign over those films since he sold them Spidey in the first place.

well ...

1) Marvel isn't canceling or ignoring the X-men in terms of Comics at all...

2) I actually really support their lack of push for Cartoons and Merchandise with the Fantastic Four and X-men, it sucks as a toy collector (which i am) but I understand how Merchandising is powerful to the brand. Selling toys comic versions or not.. t-shirts, etc... do actually sell more than just the comic brand.. but the ENTIRE brand.. which unfortunately includes the FOX films.

Hopefully Marvel Legends will get another (though probably store exclusive again) X-men Legends wave in time for Apocalypse.

I think I read an article where Miles Teller (?) says we will definitely get to see the actual costume but it was assumed they will be wearing the training-wheel outfits most of the time.

Marvel is placing a huge bet on this movie not getting a sequel though. Are they just going to cancel the comic every other year so there's no promotion?

They are hardly betting against them, their current event basically stars FF related characters. Then after the event ends, yes there won't be a FF book, but the characters will be moved to high profile books or at least books that Marvel will be pushing hard. The Thing will be joining the GOTG, a book that has gained a lot after the success of the movie, and can be expected to continue to get a push ahead of the sequel. Johnny Storm will be with the Inhumans, another book that Marvel will be pushing hard. And Sue will be doing SHIELD stuff.

They won't be in a FF book but I would say that they will get more attention from Marvel in their new books than they would if they continued to be in just a FF book.

This is what I was talking about, I read this the other day. Not sure if there is truth to it.

Miles Teller Says the Fantastic Four Will Wear the Classic Costumes in the Upcoming Reboot

Mike Sampson | March 17, 2015 @ 1:12 PM

After the Fantastic Four trailer debuted online, and with the subsequent images from the film, many people have remarked that the costumes seen in the trailer looking nothing at all like the outfits worn in the comics. Star Michael B. Jordan has previously described these new suits as “containment suits” because they were looking for something different for this “gritty” take on the film. But, fear not True Believers: we spoke to Fantastic Four star Miles Teller and he told us that you can expect to see something more traditional as well.

We caught up with Teller to talk about Insurgent, but just that morning a group of new photos of the Fantastic Four cast in their costumes hit the web and we had to ask him about the new look. He told us that the costume you see above (which he described as “highly uncomfortable” to wear on set) are what you'll see for the majority of the film, but not the only costumes you see.

"These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great [...] But, yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn't don the traditional costumes. You've got to. There is some servicing there. You've got to give that to the fans. That's what it's all about."

Over the course of the movie, as the Fantastic Four become more of a official team, you can bet that we'll see the team wearing matching outfits with the classic “4” logo. It might not be something you see until the end of the film, but according to Teller, at least you're not going to have to wait for a sequel.

Fantastic Four opens in theaters on August 7.

You have to read that quote again very carefully. He doesn't actually say they'll be wearing the costumes. I'll see if I can find it and show you what I mean.

It may do First Family some good to take a breather from their own comic for a while. Marvel's statements about the FF comic stories getting stale may be true, but it sounds like they're just saving face while they play down the team's involvement in Marvel stuff while the movie rights are negotiated. But we all know that once the FF can be brought into the MCU (and I think that's a question of "when" and not "if") then the team will explode across Marvel's properties all over again; along with a full set of movies added to the MCU calendar, they'll reunite in a new ongoing FF team book, there'll be a big Marvel crossover revolving around them, maybe a new FF cartoon, a ton of merchandise, etc. It'll be great.

That's some artful wording, isn't it? He never actually says we'll see traditional costumes in this movie. He could very well mean that they would have to have them in the sequel.

Can't wait for that.

:funny: I didn't make it this far until I had already posted the above.

I don't think Marvel is hurting themselves by ending the FF comic. It wasn't selling well and them canceling it is making them far more relevant then they've been in a while. Where Marvel is hurting itself is in the movie merchandising of FF and the X-Men. There is money to be made through video games, comics, and so fourth. That tie in with the movie that is not be capitalized on. Regardless of the split it's still money that you don't have because you want to be a a-hole.

Yes but if he wasn't suggesting there will be a glimpse of the classic costumes then he must be bashing his own movie, isn't he?

I see what you mean though, he didn't directly suggest it. Man, I am curious as to whether there are classic costumes in the movie now.

One script description claimed:

At the end of the film Reed was sketching out costumes and a Fantasticar.

We might get something like that or a 30 second clip at the very end . . . or nothing.

Either way, it's pretty much the same. We won't see people dressed like the FF battling the forces of evil in this film. That seems a near certainty at this point.

The thing with the suits is probably just gonna be like what they did with the classic Robocop color scheme in the reboot. Tease it, tell everyone wait for the sequel
