So you're an hour into it and there's still an hour and a half left? So you're watching a 2 and half hour version? :o

Oh haha I read my player wrong, I thought the hour an a half was counting down, but it was the total.. so like 20 mins left now.

I'm confident you could make a good 100 minute origin movie if it was one superhero, but setting up a team of four and giving them all personalities and characteristics, that's harder. Trank managed to make the leads in Chronicle believable, but that movie didn't go much into the science of things. The guys got their powers and after that it was more a study on how they were affected. With FF, the science of it all took up a big chunk.

I think a longer running time could have made a lot of things better, but Doom still looked ugly as hell, nothing would have changed there.
What did you think of the first X-Men movie, which was 104 minutes long?

Where is the Guard? If anyone can argue for bad movies, it's him.

I can argue effectively for darn near anything, but it's not like I only argue for bad movies. What I usually do is point out the positives AND negatives of a film.

Except for ANT-MAN. (Shudder)

Just finished, overall I thought it was pretty decent. The last 20-30 mins do certainly feel rushed, another 10-20 would have probably helped a lot.

The only thing I didn't much care for was Dooms look, I thought the characterization was fine but his look was a bit odd, although I get the look due to what happened on the planet.

I don't quite get all the hate as a film on it's own, but I certainly see thw hate from a comic veiwer standpoint.

It's a shame that it might not get a sequel because I think it did a great job as a new adapation and origin and would really like to see this cast as these characters going forward.

Depends, does kneeling in submission count as "close"? ;)

Anthony Breznican reports in EW that Trank displayed "destructive and combative behavior" on the set and that he was the one that demanded sweeping changes weeks before filming that caused the studio to lose confidence in him and the project. Breznican also says Trank completely destroyed his rental home in Baton Rouge and would explode like that all the time on set. Damn.

:wow:

Apparently Trank verbally abused producers, crew and even the entire cast according to EW. Damn.

EW says the damage that Trank did to his rental home was "extreme and perhaps deliberate".

It was like a trail of half baked-ness. Fox greenlit the film with half baked intentions, hired a director with half baked ideas, and then redid half of the film really half baked.

FOX never really wanted to make this film. Thought they would stick it to Marvel with some lopsided deal.

Brilliant thinking to hire a complete basket case with one film under his belt to deliver a controversy-laden film that only ever needed a cookie cutter script and cast directed by a solid journeyman to achieve the main priority of retaining the rights.

Outstanding job, FOX!

I suspect *all* the dirty laundry will air, as both parties try their best to blame the other.

As I said twice before,
The most telling thing is how none of the cast came to the support of Trank, while on the other hand they all defended Teller after the Esquire article.

I think certain users have some Trank blinders on.

Seems like Teller really was getting ****ed over by that article though. I could still see the paint drying from where she painted the picture of a dick so deliberately.

Oh, we really need a documentary about the making of this film.
