Yep, you nailed that one on the head. It's especially telling in that MBJ didn't come to his defense and Trank is likely the main reason he was cast.

I'm not sure why they even deserve to go to Planet Zero anyway. Not to mention, they are not trained or prepared for it all. You would need data on the planet before just going there half-cocked. To even go outside in an environment they have no idea of. And Franklin Storm is all like, "yeah you can go." Umm no they can't. They aren't astronauts. Astronauts go through hellish training to prepare for space travel. Interdimensional travel to another planet?

To give you an idea of how rough it was, Deke Slayton offered Frank Borman the chance to be the first man on the Moon, and Borman turned him down and retired from NASA rather than go through the training for another mission.

And the reason I point this out is because the plot makes it seem like these kids are being wronged, when actually it makes them unlikable. IMHO, there is no reason that a bunch of inexperienced kids should be allowed to go to this other dimension first.

And they are even more unlikable when they get drunk and use the gate like a toy causing terrible things to happen.

I mean in real life, Reed Richards should be in jail.

So i really like the ultimate origin personally. At least on the level of transdimensional > space radiation for being more interesting.

But maybe the next go around they could do a hybrid. Like, the goal being interdimensional travel but it needs to be done in a zero gravity environment. Could make for some cool visuals.

It certainly sounds like it based on what I've read. That type of behavior would never be tolerated in real life. Astronaut careers have been ended for a lot less than that.

In real life, there'd be some basic security instead of leaving 17/18 year olds alone with a matter transporting machine. Speaking of security, the military seems to lack it as well.

Well guess what.. Cinemascore is C- so unless the general audience goes in with agenda of returning the rights to Marvel, this is just a tragic movie.

You know what really did me in about this Movie?

It's not the crappy editing, the messy script, the poor direction, the lack of thrill/action, or even the outrageous final act.

It's the way they treated the characters. These are characters with tremendous depth and personality. The way they were written and presented was rubbish and offensive to the source material. It killed me to acknowledge that the characters on the screen were one and the same with the ones in the comics. I can handle a bad film, but not this.

Ben Grimm was shafted big time. I expected to see his post-accident depression, his struggle with accepting what he had become. That was all ignored, instead focusing on how he blames Reed for everything and hates him. Then sometime OFF-SCREEN, they make up and by the end of the movie everything's fine? Ridiculous.

They don't even address his feelings being turned into a murder tool by the government. No one ever has to actually cope with their powers, it's like they cut out the second act and had Tim Blake Nelson just tell it in voice over while the monitors played clips that clearly look to be just taken from scenes they cut from the middle.

Guys, I've been thinking.

This may be one of the ultimate best examples of what happens when a production has bad karma. There was ridiculously copious amounts of negative energy around this production and that's why it's failing so terribly now. Consider the facts:

FOX had bad motives in making the movie in the first place--this was a cash grab. It's a documented fact that the executives hate the property but they hate Marvel Studios more. So this led to them to hiring a clearly emo unstable director to throw a film together. Under pressure, the director hired actors based on personal allegiances and favoritism instead of respecting the source material. After the meltdowns, FOX tried to get rid of the very Frankenstein they created. Frankenstein then goes to Twitter and decimates his makers.

And now the entire critics industry, general movie-going audiences and last--but most importantly of all--the fan community have united in their dismissal of the entire effort. This story just underscores how badly karma will f*** you up when you put all that bad energy out there in the universe. FOX thought they were going to hurt Marvel. All they ended up doing was hurting themselves.

What really got to me about this is that we didn't even get the traditional costumes towards the end like Fox said we would see...like wtf..also when I was watching this I felt embarrassed being in the theatre like wtf that has never happened to me.

No-one came to Trank's defense when Hollywood Reporter out out the story that he had not left Star Wars because he wanted to but that he was fired either. They didn't even do the usual "can't wait to see what you do next" kind of thing.

If someone is your friend of you at least like them, you'd come to their defense in this case. They all rushed to Teller's defense, why wouldnt they rush to Tranks?
