Who knows. Maybe shi* hit the fan during production as it's been said on the Collider Movie Talk and they knew they shouldn't meddle with the situation. Or maybe Trank acted like a wounded animal and alienated them. Who knows.

I think where there's smoke there's fire and multiple reports have come in about Trank's behavior the same as theyre were multiple reports about FOX's involvement along with evidence. You can't ignore one and choose the other.

What you said didnt even address the actual question, if Trank wasnt an a**hole during production why did they not support him in public. "They knew they shouldnt meddle with the situation?" I dont think that's a good excuse

Trank didn't lose the Star Wars job because he did a fantastic job here. People need to consider why Fox would interfere.

Well, this is a shame. I was always trying to be optimistic about this film. Too bad things turned out this way. I don't understand that some people are happy it failed.

I have yet to see the film. I'm still kinda curious about the performances of the cast.

Don't know why you don't understand why people aren't happy. Unlike most films, this film failing had the silver lining of the rights possibly going back to Marvel if it bombs.

That wouldn't excite me really. Yeah, it probably wouldn't be that hard to deliver a better film, but it probably also would have a weak villain and weak humor. For me, the MCU movies are extremley hit-and-miss. I enjoy them to a certain degree, but most of them keep having the same problems.

Fox doesn't seem to care at all about the property, that alone is enough for me to want the movie to fail.

No-one came to Trank's defense when Hollywood Reporter out out the story that he had not left Star Wars because he wanted to but that he was fired either. They didn't even do the usual "can't wait to see what you do next" kind of thing.

Interesting looking back at Comicon that Kinberg was placed in-between Trank and the cast....Like a buffer...:hmm

Their silence towards Trank through all the 'road bumps' is hard to ignore.

Also one of the biggest sins of this movie is that it's so dark and grim. I honestly left the movie theater a little depressed yesterday afternoon. It wasn't just because the movie was bad either. I could forgive the movie (a bit) if it had been light hearted and had some good humor. But it was trying to go for this Chris Nolan Batman vibe of dark and gritty. The Fantastic Four should be light hearted and fun and at least the Tim Story movies understood that. It was clear that the actors weren't having fun doing this movie.

Agreed.

Also, to me at least, I think it's very telling that they use that same shot of Mara's face for a majority of the posters. Like she couldn't be bothered. Maybe it was her schedule, but I find that very weird

I just got out of seeing this. It's so, so bad. I knew what I was getting into, going into it, but I didn't expect it be so boring. It was dull, lifeless, and nothing mattered. Nothing about this movie matters. It feels like a void where my time fell to die. It may be the worst movie I've paid to see since Pluto Nash.

I feel like there were more than enough warnings on the exact wording of your problems. Thanks for shelling out the money to support this garbage.

Trank's team are trying to spin this like he was an innocent victim, if he were an innocent victim then why on earth would Disney fire him from the Star Wars gig?

And I'm not going to dignify that "we don't have any proof that he was fired" silliness with a response. Dude was fired obviously, nobody quit Star Wars.

In real life, there'd be some basic security instead of leaving 17/18 year olds alone with a matter transporting machine. Speaking of security, the military seems to lack it as well. :whatever:

Are they seriously supposed to be 17/18? None of the actors look even close to being that young. Heck, Mara could far more easily pass for DOUBLE that.

What's ironic is it was Fox and Disney that covered up that he was fired to try and salvage any reputation he did have. Now he's gone and proven on his own all of the bad things people said about him.

And that's why Josh Trank is a ****ing moron.

Most critical reviews I've read acknowledge the reshoots and don't blame Trank. So if he'd kept his mouth shut, his reputation might have been somewhat salvageable. Now, though...

Deserves everything he gets. They went easy on him and he still didn't take the gift.

And now Fox can probably sue him for his salary for breach of contract, saying he deliberately sabotaged the release.

For the most part I hope MBJ does well after this, but I could do without his ego.

I don't think he has an ego per say. I didn't like the "They'll see it anyway" thing but I haven't seen or heard anything about his other behavior. I just think he didn't respect the Fantastic Four.

And his career ill be fine. He's "the new black" Hollywood is pushing him a good amount. Kinda wish Anthony Mackie got this kind of push.
