Fantastic Four: First Steps General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

I don't know, seems like the best live action portrayal of the F4 we've had so far (not that the bar was set very high).

Also, the line delivery is comfortably intimate and lowkey, which I like.
I think they were going for intimate, but it just feels a bit off to me. It's probably an editing thing though as these are all excellent actors.

Something seemed off about the trailer, like it was made by AI or something.

I'm still lukewarm on this film. It looks like it will be good, which is fine. Not every film can be fantastic, forgive the pun.

For me, nothing I've seen of Pedro has convinced me that he is not horribly miscast as Mr. Fantastic. I also wish Thing's voice was gruff, but I assume they wanted to try to humanize him more by sounding like his normal self. Not a creative choice I like, but I can live with it.

Something about that trailer didn't click or feel like it's going to the film that will reestablish excitement for MCU in the GA.

Appreciate the enthusiasm, but wouldn't got that far. :tearsofjoy:
I am sure there will be some indie drama about a guy with cancer that will get Oscar buzz and better reviews and yada yada yada or some A24 thing. Don't care. This is my jam :o

I don't like the female Silver Surfer. The Silver Surfer from the 2007 movie looked sooo much better and more badass. And the CGI looked better too, even though the movie was released 18 years ago

Yeah it still needs a lot of work, hopefully they nail it down by July

The ROTSS version was a makeup effect punched up with CG, whereas this time their going full motion capture CGI, trying to leave Julia Garner's facial features intact
I get why, they want her to be able to emote more than the Doug Jones/Laurence Fishburn version
But seeing her eyes and teeth behind the metallic face feels a bit weird at the moment

But they gave us Hulk and Thanos for the last ten years, I'm optimistic they'll get it right

I just can’t get excited for this movie… the cast is totally miscast i love Pedro but he is not doing it for me as Reed same for Kirby I love her in The Crown and Mission Impossible movies but she seems really miscast also… I really hope my mind changes when i see it in theaters

Not necessarily what I meant.

I agree on Pedro, but I'm willing to give him a chance because he's been great in everything I've seen him in
And the fan-favorite Krascinski did a lackluster job in his shot at the role, so who knows

Disagree on Kirby though, I think she looks great, and so much better than either Alba or Kate Mara for the part. She's got the motherly vibe, the strength, and she's gorgeous. That one's a win.

My biggest trepidation on casting would be Quinn, I've only seen him in Stranger Things and not sure if he can live up to or surpass Evans' version

Pascal was the one casting I was iffy about but he's clicking with me from what I've seen in the teaser and now trailer.

I'm really digging how much of a love letter to 60s sci fi this is appearing to be. The suits look like something that would've been in Star Trek or Lost in Space. I was even getting Land of the Giant vibes from that shot with Galactus at the end.

The fact that sooo many actors and actresses were in consideration and came and went makes me think they were not their first choices, not even the second ones.
Pedro Pascal looking like all Pedro Pascal's characters doesn't do Reed Richards any favors.

Pascal is acting very subdued here, kind of like the exact polar opposite of his Maxwell Lord character from WW1984, for better or worse.
