Fantastic Four: First Steps General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

It would, sure. But it's not something I could ever get myself super pumped for if I was waiting for that desperately. At this point, I don't have a horse in the Shalla-Ball vs Norrin debate until I see the movie and we see what plans they have for the character
That's definitely fair.

To be fair, the Thor franchise was already two movies deep before Jane Thor was introduced in the comics. Outside of X-Men, Norrin Radd's Silver Surfer is one of the few remaining popular Marvel characters yet to be introduced in the MCU. They're not going to wait that long to introduce him, especially if they hit a slump post-Secret Wars.

Why are you so sure when they opted not to introduce him in this movie that actually has Galactus and a Silver Surfer?

I wish this movie was more fun to discuss in general. Not just talking about here, but essentially on all social media is being dominated by stupid culture war stuff, and in general I am bored of having to defend my interest in the movie all the time. So, I may be unplugging for a bit

As I said before, I think they went with Shalla-Bal as the Surfer in this to differentiate it from Rise of the Silver Surfer since the broad plot for both movies seems to be similar. Norrin's Surfer will show up at a later point. There's absolutely no reason for him not to be in the MCU, especially when there's potential for a Silver Surfer movie at some point after Secret Wars.

Welcome to the Star Wars way of life. :(

IMAX format trailer:

There’s quite a few of the expansive IMAX shots. Video compression looks less crappy than the Marvel account trailer at least but still not 4K.

I really enjoy the trailer. I love the production design and the film looks colourful in a way I haven't seen from the MCU in a long time.

I just need to see how the interactions go because he haven't seen much of that yet, and the action.

Credit where credit is due: I love that one single shot of Reed stretching. Looks cool and not ridiculous, which is a feat.
I liked the way he moved but wasn’t sold on the texture. But it was too quick to judge.

I think we'll still see Norrin eventually. It may be awhile but this being a multiverse story gives them an easy way to bring him in at some point.
I’m thinking it might be intentional to save Norrin Radd for 616.

Why are they saving him for 616? What if audiences fall in love with this version? You are going to undercut and not use Shalla-Bal? It would be a bad look if they do that.

I really liked the small glimpse of Johnny Storm, his flame on effect looks beautiful as if it was an Alex Ross painting coming alive. Pedro Pascal stretchy powers look better than previous movies and Galactus is building up a be a menace with a strong presence. Sue storm does give me heart eyes. Aside from that, I was excited for the Jetsons/retro vibe but something seems off. It kind of has a James Gunn color scheme as if they had AI add a James Gunn filter to it; it kind of has a Superman feel to it. I do like that it's embracing the comic book aspect to it and hope they release a banger.

In terms of upcoming cmb releases Thunderbolts is the movie I'm most excited about followed by Superman and F4.
