Fantastic Four: First Steps General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

The first Raimi Spider-Man was really the first Marvel film done right.

The first film with the combination of budget, vision and enough respect for the comics to try to put something on screen that really looked and felt like the comics.

Fox made some decent movies, but they tended to be dismissive of the comics. They were afraid to look too goofy or spend too much money and they were too willing to believe their ideas were better than the comics that had stood the test of time.

“What if Ben was a skinny little guy who got beat up by his brothers? Wouldn’t that be so much better than the comic books I never read?” - Simon Kinberg

Aw! I’ve always said no one can do Stan Lee silver age comics like raimi so if they’re aiming for that it’s a win for me
Spider-Man 3 had its issues but imagine if we got a Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5, that are as good as Spider-Man 1 and Spider 2. Back in 2010, I hated how the story ended in a trilogy.

I assume that if Jon Watts had stayed on FF, the movie would've been closer in tone to the Home Spider-Man trilogy.

So the high end of Theory's projections has gone up 19 million in a week.

Solid numbers for a marketing campaign which appears significantly less than Superman. I'd be more than satisfied with this result as a new franchise.

Supes is fighting a different battle, his movie is trying to establish a new universe so I get why they’re dialing up his marketing recently.

But give FF another week, I’m sure we’ll see more. They already have tons of tv spots and the Little Caesars and breakfast cereal promos.

Oh I missed those pizza and cereal promos. James Gunn is also a big benefit to DC in terms of social media presence and interaction.

I'm just happy this isn't being lost in the noise.

New footage for Father's Day? I'm here for it. I really applaud how they've kept the lid on this story all this time. So very little has been spoiled. We only have a few weeks left and hopefully we won't have any leaks that ruin this.

Also, Fantastic Four is two weeks after Superman. So the timeline for their promo should theoretically be two weeks behind.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it really pick up in the next week or two.

I need them to put Giacchino's theme for Galactus on Apple Music already.

Heard it this week and I can't stop thinking about it. SO CHILLING.
