Fantastic Four General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

I feel pretty good about this and Superman's chances. I think people are going to be in the mood for an earnest blockbuster that brings people together.

Yeah, I think both studios have drifted away from the basics, and Superman for DC and FF for Marvel are perfect for getting back to the fun, adventure and optimism that made comic books what they were in their heyday.

… but I learned over 40 years ago these theories can often be better than the real thing.

Between 1980 and 1983 I remember a great theory:

Darth Vader wasn’t actually Luke’s father - Boba Fett was.

Boba Fett had helped Darth Vader kill all the Jedi - except he didn’t. Instead, he told Darth Vader he had disintegrated them but really hid them away - to be brought back for an epic battle when the time was right.

This is why Boba Fett was hidden behind a mask and this is why Darth Vader made a point of saying “No disintegrations” specifically to Boba Fett when he was sending the bounty hunters to capture our heroes.

That’s also why Yoda said “No, there is another” when Ben Kenobi said “that boy is our only hope”. Ben didn’t realize Luke’s father was still alive. He honestly thought he had been killed by Darth Vader (and a reason to think Darth Vader wasn’t Luke’s father - Ben wouldn’t have lied).

And Revenge of The Jedi (as it was known at the time) was going to be the story of that epic battle as the Jedi were brought out of hiding to battle the Empire.

That would have been cool, but obviously didn’t happen.:funny:

As a Boba Fett fan I love this theory

I usually avoid the “wouldn’t this be cool” speculation, but this one is particularly interesting because, not only would it make a lot of sense, but it could explain the mystery actor who
many presumed to be RDJ, but others said looked more like Chris Evans.

From the comments of that link

“Hmm, what if by changing the past by stopping Hydra & saving Bucky (also helping out with most other historical tragedies), maybe not only does Steve inspire the creation of the FF but maybe by preventing Winter Soldier's assassination of Tony's parents, he indirectly leads to that universe's Tony becoming Doom?!?“

I find that intriguing. That if Steve did not become Cap or prevented further evil, the balance of good is overwhelming the bad. Like Yin and Yang. So. That would mean Doom would be the counterbalance to all the good in that alternate universe. Interesting. Messy, but interesting.

My theory/wish: RDJ Doom comes from a variant timeline where Doctor Doom beat the FF, and other Marvel heroes, and took over the world and its a global dictatorship, which contrasts the world of First Steps where the FF are the lead heroes in a utopia thanks to Steve Rogers coming in to be with Peggy. So you have two different universes that couldn't be more different and both are at risk in Doomsday/Secret Wars.

Man of Steel and the previous F4 films aren't hard to top. But I'm hoping for something above good. Like I want some of the all time best cbms ever, next year.

Like it shouldn't just be better than the previous attempts because that's a low bar. The FF film needs to be genuunely good/great to truly revitalize their popularity.

I hope everything aligns for it to be a huge success.

I'd rather John Malkovich played Puppet Master than Red Ghost.
I’m betting we don’t get Alicia in this film. Partly because we saw Ben on the Dating Game, but mostly because we presume they’ll come to our reality, and I don’t see Alicia making that trip - meaning she’ll probably be from our reality.

Yesssss! Love them doing that proper silver age stuff! This is going to be so fun.

I almost wish we could get a Disney+ series of the ff doing 1960s sci fi stuff instead of just one movie and then off to the present day

I apologize being late to the party... but what is this about a mystery actor?? Is this from a set photo?

do we think it's the same person that was seen being snuck on too set...

also has anyone else heard of this underground set that was supposedly discovered

does it seem legit? idk doesn't seem like enough evidence to link it to the film

what would this scene even be...?
