Fantastic Four General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

I think some scenes he could be, since we know they filmed with a practical suit at least some. But to me the biggest tell is his clothing looks like cgi in the trailers. If I had to take an educated guess, they may have filmed him once in the practical suit for reference on lighting and movement. Then filmed him in his mocap suit for the performance.

What point are you talking about, because I read that Deadline article above and they didn't mention any paid ads that could have boosted that number. Its not really that impressive. We don't know how much from 202 million views without from the ads (that automatically played the trailer).

And @JP I wasn't surprised they promoted the film because they have to.
Dude....it doesn't matter HOW the views are achieved. You think when a theater attaches a trailer in a theater, they're making sure every time it's for the target audience? Of course not, they just try and got as many eyeballs as possible. It's ESPECIALLY key to get non-fan eyeballs. If you only want to count people who go to the Marvel channel and play the trailer, most of those people are fans. Blockbusters need a high percentage of non-fans to see these movies. So, you're point is just nonsense. Ads included or no ads included, it's a good number

I don't get the "they put the trailer up as an ad" argument, because it plays as an ad. It doesn't take you to the Marvel Youtube page where the video is, so why would that make the view count go up?

Even if it does, who cares! It's still getting views, it's still generating hype, it's doing its job. Who cares if that number includes ads or not

It's unhealthy how many times I've rewatched this teaser.

I think they put some kind of Latverian voodoo in it.

Vanessa Kirby's delivery of that line about facing things as a family is just soooo good.
Who needs Latverian Voodoo when you have,
VANESSA VOODOO?

I know it won't happen, but I'm waiting on SOME KIND of FF surprise Super Bowl trailer later on.

I mean, Superbowl ads are expensive and they already did a launch event for the FF trailer.

The teaser was really incredible and it was amazing seeing galactus fully onscreen even with it being a quick glimpse I really loved it along with everything else. I really loved how the film looks and I loved the cast and there looks and chemistry. I really am excited for this movie.

They are not behind in terms of hype--least of all to Superman (which actually has a lot of mixed buzz surrounding it currently). The Fantastic Four are THE most anticipated CBM heroes of the year, and Marvel is taking great pains to ensure the marketing of the film is strategic and savvy. You don't have to worry about them "catching up"--they are more than a match for Superman.
I don't know how to measure mixed buzz on a trailer beyond the circles we exist in.

Also FF trailer has generated less views over the same timeframe. That's not surprising, nor does it reflect quality between the two films, just anticipation level at this point.

I think a trailer at SB would have gotten more views.

Ad views are included in the over all YouTube view counts. Its why music videos can have 50 million views in less than a month, despite the song not really charting high on the charts.

Also one of the trailers of Kraven, Madame Web and Venom 3 (from Sony's YT account) have 30 million views above. Kraven and Madame Web didn't exactly perform similarly compare to Venom 3 at the box office for comparison.

What does any of that matter tho? You sound like the DC fans criticizing the Deadpool and Wolverine views because it included the Super Bowl.

A view is a view. This is how you market a movie.

This isn't me disagreeing, but point of origin should have some value and consideration. Now, with this being the first trailer, I largely wouldn't care.

The more interesting thing to me would be how many trailer views resulted from user driven searches when it's the second trailer VS the first one (assuming these calculations are total views across platforms and not just youtube views or whatever).

Ever since I was younger I have always wanted to see galactus on the big screeen and the fantastic four and there characters done right. I remember the rise of silver surfer director commentary where the director explained galactus was hidden and that we will see him in the silver surfer movie and that never happened but this new movie will finally nail the the characters and universe and finally show him and as a character as well. I think a lot of people are excited for this film myself included but I guess we will have to wait and see how the box office does and the reception when the movie comes out.

Did they show the trailer during the Super Bowl?
I don't believe so. And honestly, I'm glad they didn't. It's not really appropriate considering it's already done so well and it's technically a teaser, rather than a full trailer. I'd rather them spend that level of $$$ on a full WOW moment, showcasing everyone's power displays and really upping the ante visually. They are clearly thinking outside the box with their entire marketing approach to this project, and I think there will be other opportunities to land a bigger impact. The Superbowl isn't a miss.

Yeah I didn't think it was gonna show up there. July is still far. Thunderbolts* is much closer in comparison.

I was very much hoping for a full trailer, but understand why there wasn't one.

Maybe a new one for the Easter period or around May time.

I feel sorry for the cast in that movie even though I don’t really like the ultimate fantastic four run when it comes to adapting the fantastic four to a film the cast definitely wasn’t the problem .

Jeff Sneider says Disney executives are happy with the way this movie turned out. However, Disney execs are very worried about Brave New World and Thunderbolts and expect both to bomb. Sneider says Marvel is a mess behind the scenes right now.

It was a good cast.

Even on paper, their 2025 line up doesn't sound interesting especially if we consider the GP's taste in movies.

Captain America without Steve Rogers
Thunderbolts*
Another Fantastic 4 reboot
And at one point, they had a Blade film for 2025 as well too...

They shouldhave put a traditional sequel in the middle of 2025, preferably Doctor Strange 3 or Spider-Man 4, and their line up would have been stronger, commercially speaking.

I hate the possibility of the underperformance of Brave New World and Thunderbolts, hurting the Fantastic 4. Come August, Disney isn't gonna care if its the mighty/Marvel OG Fantastic 4, if the numbers aren't there to sustain a sequel.

Ok Sneider

It wouldn't surprise me if there is truth to this. Brave New World is a patchwork, mediocre film. It feels like Kevin Feige lost the plot and doesn't know the greater direction since Endgame. Feels like they are constantly course-correcting and playing catchup like DCEU post Batman v Superman.

Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige were ultimately spoiled by too much success, among other things.
