Anthropologists would most probably recognize Romanis as Caucasian.

From the wikipedia entry on Caucasian Race:

“19th century classifications of the peoples of India were initially uncertain if the Dravidians and the Sinahalesewere Caucasoid or a separate Dravidarace, but by and in the 20th century, anthropologists predominantly declared Dravidians to be Caucasoid.”

    Caucasian race - Wikipedia

sorry to harp on this topic, my intention is not to add fuel to the fire, but to be factual, scientific, and anthropologically accurate about such matters. It isn’t any less racist to be racist against so called white people. This is media propaganda that plays on emotions and not facts. Nobody chooses what ethnicity they are born into. My personal belief is that we are all one race: the human race and the colour of our skin and cultural differences are all vain and will not matter in the end.

Not you bussin out colonial era race anthropology to erase the experiences of minorites :O These methods of classification were infamous for the utilization of unscientific measures, like craniology, craniometry, and melanin theory. There was no study of genetics or ancestral genealogy, y'know, *actual science, when the early European polygenists created these categories.

Much of early US history was a battle over whiteness; who was white, and who wasn't-- and because pseudoscientific definitions of race were their guiding principle in defining whiteness, the disconnect between their "science" and common understanding, became impossible to amend, when their theories were put to the test-- The United States v. Bhagat Singh Thind is Ruled

Indians/South Asians (aka "Caucasoids) have been socially, and legally, excluded from whiteness ever since.

Biologically speaking, yes, we are all the same. Phenotypical differences in people are the result of migrational mutations. Race is a social construct, but that doesn't erase the *social reality* of race, and the very real, material challenges that minorities face as a result.

Pretending these challenges don't exist, is equally damaging as bad actors (racists) enforcing them.

Exactly. We need the Magnetos, we need the Killmongers, we need the Dooms. Because they are a representation of the insatiable anger you feel at the world, when reading those papers, and seeing that injustice. Doom, like both Erik/cs, has and always will, represent the rage of the oppressed.

Unfortunately what you or I think doesn’t matter. What matters is what executives at Disney who have never read a comic book think.

Disney Executive: So you’re saying you want the baddest bad guy in the universe to be an Eastern European Gypsy who uses black magic and performs occult rituals to contact his dead mother? Let me guess, his assistant is an evil Jew banker.

    Kevin F: But…

Disney Executive: No buts. This topic is over. Find a different way to do it that will keep your geeks happy without using offensive ethnic stereotypes.

This is a really superficial reading of the character. You could apply the same surface level logic to Killmonger and we’d have lost out on one of the best antagonists in the MCU.

Disney executive: So, you're saying that you want a Black supremacist, who wants to take revenge on white people for injustices of the past, to be the main villain of our first Black-led superhero film???

Kevin F: Yes and no. Se-

Disney executive: It's settled then. We'll cast a white guy in the role!

    :O

Mhm. It is a fallacious argument. "So you're saying you want the X-Men to beat up a Holocaust survivor?? No, make him Sokovian!"

As If there's no way to respectfully translate these characters, and their cultures to the big screen-- as if whitewashing is the only option that the producers have no choice but to partake in. :funny:

Sorry this is off-topic, but have you guys seen Werewolf by Night on Disney +? I thought it was fantastic, and it features several characters from Marvel's horror comics. Anyway, just a recommendation, back to the FF.

i haven't - does it effect Phase 4? How does it fit into the MCU canon? Is it like the star wars holiday special?

I don't think it affects anything, unless some of the characters introduced pop up elsewhere, which is possible. It's 55 minutes, feels like a short movie. It's not goofy like the Star Wars special, but there's an upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas special which might fit the bill.

It did make me think of the Fantastic Four, by the way. Something about the CGI for Man-Thing made me think of how they might do the Thing, just the way he moved and such. Although I thought they made him look a little too cute and cuddly. But still deadly.

Speaking of which, let's get into the real questions

    Blue - Black
    NqIxOIOLtgcscUK-800x450-noPad.jpg

    Or Blue - White?

I'm partial to the Byrne/white, and I think it would be a good way to differentiate MCU F4

I'd be happy with the Byrne/White uniforms, or some variation based on them. I love the original uniforms the best, but I think the Byrne/Whites would look good on the screen. I'd be happy either way. It would be hard to mess up a Fantastic Four uniform, really. You'd really have to try.

I wouldn’t mind losing the underwear over the pants thing, but other than that, I’d like something close to the classic.

We already had Thing losing his underwear in Fant4stic, so we need Pants Thing this time round!

From what I've heard Doom won't be in the first Fantastic Four movie so I could see Adam Driver's Doom only appearing in the sequel and third movie. Take in the fact that second movie won't come out until 2027, at the soonest, and I could see AD taking the role. He would have enough time to finish up his upcoming projects and commit to one or two FF films and receive another big payday, freeing him up to take as many indie projects as he wants. And Disney and Driver have both stayed close to one another, post Star Wars, with Adam saying he wouldn't rule out coming back to SW and working with Disney again.

Generally speaking, that word is considered a slur when referring to Romani people. It is generally best to avoid using it.

Every time I see that picture of Vision, he looks just like a plastic miniature, or "mini", model, the type used in tabletop wargames or perhaps a board game piece.

I wonder if this has something to do with why Marvel wanted to move Latveria (if that rumor is true)? Maybe they weren't sure quite how to handle on it, and wanted to make sure they avoided accidentally offending anyone.

Maybe there's no such thing as Doom but Doom will just be an actor masquerading as a monarch who'll have gone to the same acting school as Trevor Slattery.
