Who said anything about him being a Democrat? I certainly don't buy all the "Obama believed what he believed because they had a tangential crossing of paths a few times in the Chicago scene" conspiracy crap. Let's be honest though, Farrakhan sure as hell doesn't vote Republican.
It's more a matter of inconsistency with the hate-speech stuff than getting into parties as such.
As to Rob's point, yeah, it's pretty hard to paint the modern version of Silicon Valley, like, post-Steve Jobs era as the rich old conservative IBM types it used to be. It's been tip of the progressive spear for decades. Certainly the Googles & Facebooks & Apples of the world don't exactly have a traditional Wall Street mindset reputation, not these days with all the internal speech conflicts and the Zuckerberg types acknowledging there's a problem here. That's not even really the point though, more just "alt-right *****e gets banned for simpleton mouthbreather anti-semitic comments, maybe do it for the Nation of Islam dude too".
