One of the reviews describes Honsou's character as a terrorist mastermind hell bent on world domination.

This franchise has finally hit the world domination plots. I'm so happy.

And I think you are right about Statham being a lone wolf.

Because really, we were all waiting for the franchise to take that turn . . .

Well, Dominic is already a superhero. He can drive cars under rolling, exploding gas tanks, jump effortlessly out of moving vehicles, and catch people in mid-air while breaking his fall on top of cars without any bones broken or f***s given.

Uh...Dominic Toretto would have just drove out of the nuke. He doesn't need no damn refrigerator.

:o

They really need to go to space for the next one. It's the only logical destination.

They can still create enough inventive set pieces with different types of vehicles and environments, there's no need for them to go into space... yet.
I wonder how are they gonna call the next one.

The Fast and the Furious
2 Fast 2 Furious
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
Fast & Furious
Fast Five
Fast & Furious 6 (or Furious 6)
Furious 7

They should just call it Furious 8. Fast & Furious 6 should have been officially called Furious 6 worldwide. It's just easier.

New Characters Feature:

Nathalie Emmanuel gets more attractive every time I a see. :atp:

The films have never had good plots.
I really disagree. The first film had a good plot. Not the best execution, but a good plot.

Fast Five has a very good plot, executed brilliantly imo.

Yeah, Fast Five was great all around.

So, Six Days from Tokyo Drift is on the soundtrack. I wonder if they're going to use that to reintroduce Lucas Black :funny:.

The first film was Point Break with cars, not an amazing plot and definitely nothing new. Fast Five had a plot that moves these types of films along and that's it. So "good for what it was" is as far as I go.

I'm a fan of the Fast films but they ain't ever been Shakespeare nor are they trying to be. Maybe the plot in Furious 7 is unusually thin even for a series that has thin plots. I don't know we will have to see. All I know is I hope I like it.

I think Furious 8 should take place in the post apocalypse, a la Mad Max.

Shakespeare ain't never been Shakespeare. :o

This franchise can be summed up in five word's:

Cars
HOT Women
Ridiculous Action

I never said the first film had an amazing plot or was new. I said it was good and it was. Your evaluation of Fast Five is just wrong imo.

What you are describing are all the other films in the franchise, which is why they don't really do it for me. But Fast Five's plot is more then a function of the genre. It compliments the characters very well as it actually brings everyone together is a smart, and fun manner. Hobbs and Elena aren't just included to move the plot along. They have integral parts, that function beyond the surface. They have motivation and character. The robbery itself is a fantastic bit of writing. It also has the little things, like the Han and Giselle relationship, and the Tej/Roman rivalry.

Is Fast Five straightforward? Yes, but that doesn't keep it from being very good.

I loved Fast Five so I'm not downplaying it in any way Butch. It's the movie that turned the franchise into what it is today.
